CHARLES
June 1942 "Particulars of the death of Charles Maxford Loring, 37, presumably by drowning
in a river near Sacramento, California, are being awaited by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Loring,
and sister, Mrs. Ruby Grissell, of Yuma.
A message received here Saturday night stated only that the body of the former Yuma resident had
been found in a river and that funeral services would be conducted Monday.
As the deceased had not been seen for several weeks by other relatives residing at Sacramento,
it is believed that he met his death some time ago. An investigation to determine if he had
drowned accidentally or had met with foul play was started soon after the body had been found.
Mr. Loring was born in Yuma on July 23, 1904, and attended grade and high schools here.
He went to California a number of years ago and was employed by the state motor vehicle
department at Sacramento prior to his tragic death. Besides his parents, who have been residents of Yuma since 1885, and his sister,
he is survived by an older brother, Merrill Loring, of Glendale, California."

June 4, 1909 "Miss Madge Bloom of Kankakee, I11.,
is out on a visit at the home of her sister, Mrs. E. Loring. This is her first visit since leaving about twenty-one years ago
when she was one of the jolly bunch of young people who resided here at that time."
June 1909 "The marriage of Miss Marguerite Bloom of Kankakee, I11., and Frederick H. Walkley
of Chicago, was solemnized at the home of her sister, Mrs. E. Loring,
on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00. The couple entered the parlor unattended, treading a rose petaled path, to their places before the Rev. S. J. Megaw,
who pronounced the marriage vows. The bride was attired in a handsome cream serge tailored suit and a sheaf of brides roses.
The parlor and dining room were decorated with roses, carnations and ferns, just before the ceremony the bride received a large box of roses, pepper branches, and other tropical greenery from friends in Arizona. At the
conclusion of the ceremony a two course luncheon was served, only the immediate relatives of the coutmctiuy parties being present. Mrs. Walkley is not an entire stranger here, having visited in Yuma several years ago.
The happy couple left immediately for Denver and other places of interest where they will visit before returning to Kankakee, where Mr. Walkley is associated with the Eastern Illinois Hospital. They start out with bright prospects and many good wishes for their happiness."
