October 12, 1923 Lebanon, Missouri, "C. A. Walton, 45 years old, a traveling salesman for the Russell Brokerage Co. of Oklahoma City, was found dead in his room at the Hotel Miami, Miami, Okla, last Saturday morning. He was a brother of Mrs. L. H. Hough of Russ. Mrs. Hough, who has been visiting in Wray, Colorado, was notified of his death and will arrive here Sunday morning.
Mr. Walton underwent an operation for appendicitis about two months ago and had since suffered a nervous breakdown. His death resulted from the poor condition of his health. The body was brought to Lebanon, arriving Thursday morning. It was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Southard of Rus, the latter being a niece of the decedent. They were notified of Mr. Walton's death and went to Miami and made arrangements to have it returned here. The body will rest in the undertaking parlors of the Palmer Furniture Co. until Sunday afternoon. The funeral services will he held at 2 oclock Sunday afternoon at the New Hope church, near Russ. Mr. Walton was well known in the Russ neighborhood, having spent much time there, especially during last summer, with his sister, Mrs. Hough.
He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Hough, Mrs. Eva Grant of Bridgeport, Nebr., and Mrs. Frank Parson of San Francisco."
(This last newspaper paragraph was in error - should be "Besides the sister at Russ, there survive him three sisters, Mrs. Laura Grant and Mrs. Haltie Parsons of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs. Eva Staples, of Bridgeport, Nebraska and a brother Joe Walton of Texas."

December 1930 Wray "Mrs. Minnie Hough left last Thursday for Lebanon, Mo., after a visit with her son B. M. Brownlee and family.

"She was married to J. D. Brownlee March 28, 1876. Four children were born to them: B. M. Brownlee, Wray, Colo.; J. R. Brownlee of Gilford, Mon.; Mrs. J. R. Southard of Russ, and Mrs. Beatrice Edwards, whose death occurred several years ago. There are 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Mr. Brownlee died April 16, 1893. She was married to Henry Hough February 18, 1896 and he preceded her in death by nearly 20 years. She leaves three step children, Enoch Hough, Ault, Colo.; H. H. Hough of Lebanon and Mrs. Homer Scott of Newburg. "

February 1947 Wray " D. E. Hough of Easton, Colorado returned to his home at that place Monday afternoon. He had been visiting his brother B. M. Brownlee south of Wray."

LAURA AND CHARLES

Laura Walton and Charles Grant married on 25 Dec 1881 in Dover Township, Vernon County, Missouri.

January 1899 "C. T. Grant was called to Moberly, Mo. Thursday by a telegram announcing the death of his father, Thomas J. Grant, at Pattonsburg, Mo., of Lagrlppe. His father was born in Ky. Dec. 15. 1885 and was a prominent business man, farming, milling and manufacturing. Mr. G. belonged to the Christian church and was a Mason and a member of the A. O. U. W."

August 19, 1899 "Little Walton Grant, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. T Grant, died Monday after a short illness. He was only ten months old, a sweet little boy and a favorite with all. He was laid to rest in Wray Cemetery. "

In 1900 Wray, Charles T. Grant is a saloon keeper, 38, Laura L. Grant 35 Wife, Delbert J. Grant 17 Son, Eva W. Grant 15 Daughter, Thomas J. Grant 12 Son, and Charles A. Grant 4 Son.

June 17, 1904 "Claude B. Harman and Miss Eva May Grant were married at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Grant, Saturday afternoon, Rev. G. S. Johnson officiating."

1907 "It is said that District Attorney Pound will file charges against George Ellis of Vernon for operating a saloon in violation of law, and against C. T. Grant for selling liquor at Camp Knudson, a tented camp two miles north of Wray which was founded a few months ago for the purpose of selling liquor. This is the begining of what they call a determined fight to oust the saloons in the vicinity of Wray."

June 10, 1910 " Mrs. C. T. Grant and little daughter Dorothy came up to Wray from McCook Monday morning. Charley Grant, Jr., met them and took Dorothy out to the home of their sister, Mrs. Claude Harmon , to visit a few weeks. Mrs. Grant went on to Denver Tuesday to visit for a week with her sister. On her return trip she will stop and visit her daughter, Mrs. Harmon."

April 23, 1913 "Word was received in Wray the latter part of last week that C. T. Grant was near death in the sanatarium at Hastings, Nebr. Later word was received of his death on last Sunday. Mr. Grant is well known by most of the people of this part of the county as he came to Wray in the early nineties and was in business here for about fifteen years, running a saloon until the town was voted dry and then engaging in the grocery business. He left here some six or seven years ago after getting into the meshes of the law for illegal liquor selling nnd was engaged in business at McCook, Nebr., until about a year ago, when his mind became affected and he was sent to the institution at Hastings where he died. The body was brought to Wray for burial and the funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the J. T. Rightsell residence in North Wray. The services were conducted by B. B. Remington of this place and the body was laid in its final resting place in the Grand View Cemetery. The family came up from McCook, Nebr., to attend the funeral and returned home on No. 14, Tuesday evening.")

" Funeral services for Mrs. Agnes Fisher, 62, who died in Plesanton, Calif., Dec. 7, will be conducted at the Squire-Simmons-Carr Rose Chapel Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. George Bever will officiate, and burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Fisher had made her home in Plesanton for many years, She moved there from Havre.
She was born Feb. 23, 1894, in Osseo, Wis. Survivors are her widower, Roy in Plesanton; a son, C. L. Hyslop of Missoula; three brothers, William Hyslop of Osseo, Otto Hyslop of Havre and Albion Hyslop of Missoula: and a sister, Mrs. Lillian Smith of Osseo."

November 1900 "Delbert Grant was arrested Monday charged with breaking into Roscoe Hitchings' barn and stealing a revolver. Mr. Hitchings testified that he saw him getting out of the window, but it was a pretty dark evening and justice Grigsby thought there might be a mistake and so released him."

December 20, 1907 "The Denver papers of recent date contained the announcement of the marriage of James Delbert Grant and Martha Parker in that city a few days ago."

December 1913 "Delbert Grant, who is a fireman on the Burlington out of McCook, was greeting friends in Wray this week."
James Delbert Grant, 31 of McCook, on 19 Jan 1915, married Mattla Jmorrissey-Ger, 18, also of McCook.

Mattie and James D. Grant divorced on 24 Feb 1919 in Denver, Colorado.

March 1915 "Mrs. Delbert Grant joined her husband here at Wray Saturday, coming up from McCook, Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. Grant expect to make their home here for the present."

James Delbert Grant registered for WWI in Cheyenne Wyoming, living at the Wyoming Hotel, a fireman for the Union Pacific Railroad, born June 1, 1882. His reference was Mrs. Eva Harmon of Longmont, Colorado.

James Delbert Grant and Martha Grant divorced in Washington County, Colorado November 23, 1914.

James D. Grant 49 and Isabel Ceates, 29, both of Missouri, married in San Dinas California April 18, 1934.
