Yuma County Pioneer Photographs:

Francis M. Carr, Yuma



In 1900 Page County, Iowa, Francis M. Carr is farming, born July 1855 in Wisconsin, father Canadian, mother born in Indiana, married 16 years to Narsissa J. born January 1857 in Iowa of Tennessee parents. They have had no children.

1902

February 1908 Yuma "F. M. Carr is putting in his time drawing sand to town that it will be handy when one needs it"

March 1908 "Frank Carr is busy drawing sand for the flouring mill and light plant."

October 1910 "South of Yuma items - F. M. Carr is building a new house."

Francis proved up a quarter in section 20, 1N 48W in 1912.

June 1912 Yuma Pioneer "The excavation for the new Schramm building is completed and the concrete work on the basement was commenced by Mr. Selander yesterday. Superintendent F. M. Carr informs us that the plans have been changed and that the building will be made two stories, while the basement has been enlarged to 25 x 92 feet. There will be a balcony eight feet deep both on the ground floor and the upper story. An entrance will be made from the upper story to the second floor of the building occupied by Mr. Dakan and Mr. Fisher, and these floors entirely remodeled, with hot and cold water placed in each room as well as in the rooms of the new building. When completed it will be one of the best equipped buildings in Eastern Colorado, and Mrs. Schramm is to be commended very highly for her enterprising spirit."

In 1910 Yuma, Frances is farming, married 24 years but no spouse, 53, born in Wisconsin. His father was born in Canada, mother in Indiana.


December 1912 "Frank Carr was an east-bound passenger Thursday evening, going to St. Joe, Mo., on a combined business and pleasure trip."

November 1913 Yuma "G. H. Perkins has sold his interest in the Home Hotel to Frank Carr."

The 1916 will of Mary Schramm included

March 1916 "Frank Carr left for Missouri on the evening train Monday, for a couple weeks' visit with relatives."

April 1920 "F. M. Carr returned yesterday from a few days visit at St. Joseph, Missouri."

In 1920 Yuma, Francis M. Carr 63 is running a hotel, Cora Ford 33, widowed, landlady, Ethel Ford 15 Roomer, Velma Ford 11 Roomer, Glena Ford 9 Roomer, Frank W. Hoobler 50 Roomer, and Marion Higgins 45 Roomer.

F. M. Carr married Edith Wilson on October 26, 1926 in Jefferson County, Colorado.

Frances M. Carr, age 84, female died in 1927, buried in Fairmount Cemetery, Denver..

In July 1933 the Denver County Commissioners granted an old age pension for Francis M. Carr.

Frank M. Carr, 85, was buried February 1946 in Fairmount.
