ticket as the democratic nominee for District Attorney, but was knocked out by the Secretary of State.

May 1900 "Attorney Quitman Brown, editor of the Yuma county Republican Mail, published his valedictory last week, and announced that he has formed a partnership with
District Attorney Hays, for the practice of law, to take effect June 1. Mr. Brown will remove to Sterling on that date, after a residence of several years in Yuma.
Mr. Brown is a successful practitioner at the bar, having a wealth of legal knowledge, and is gifted with ability as an orator. We are pleased to note this change,
as he will thus be given greater opportunities in his profession than were possible in Yuma county. As an editor, like all men not familiar with the details of tbe profession,
he was a disappointment, and while the newspaper fraternity will probably not lose materially by this change, the legal profession must he the winner.
