April 1901 "P.A. Wullbrandt (Alma Barnhill's husband) has rented the Hoch property located a mile south of town. The family will be out shortly. Mr. Barnhill will work the farm."

May 1901 "P. A. Wullbrandt and Mr. Barnhill bought nineteen head of heifers of Prof. Conkling one day this week."

August 1901 "I don't think that Everett Barnhill is doing right by going down to Lincoln to get a wife. He is making his bread and butter here in Yuma County and I believe he should have patronized home industry by trying to get his helpmate at home. He is old enough to know better."

September 1901 "Everett Barnhill says it isn't his fault that he came back single. He says he will try and make a deal at home."

:" Funeral services for Everett J. Barahill, 68, who died Sunday afternoon at his home, 1144 Belmont ave., will be held at 3 o'clock Wednesday at Lincoln Heights Methodist church, Rev. Adrian J. Edgar being assisted by Rev. A. Wischmeier and Rev. Joseph Bell. The church choir will sing. Six nephews will be pall bearers: Claude and William Barnhill, Gage Campbell, Mervin Wilteriai??, Harold Li???. ??? Miles and Floyd Lorton. Members of the church board will be honorary pall bearers. North Star lodge No. 227, A. F. & A. M., will conduct rites at the grave in Wyuka, James A. Brown giving the oration.
Born near Edinburg, Ind., Mr. Barnhill came to Nebraska in 1882 with his parents, living first on a farm and removing to Lincoln six years later. Here he joined the United Brethren church, transferring to the Methodist after moving to Belmont. He was married in 1902 to Miss Olive Miles, who survives him with their five daughters: Mrs. Calvin Merritt, Mrs. Forrest Huston, Mrs. Will Rolofson, Miss Lena and Miss Grace Barnhill. He also leaves two brothers, Hiram and John; two sisters, Mrs. P. A. Wullbrandt.and Mrs. J. F. Campbell; five nieces, thirteen nephews and three grandchildren. Mr. Barnhill was a grocer in Belmont for 17 years and before that a farmer. He was a Mason; a steward and board member of Lincoln Heights church, and was active in community, church and lodge affairs."

"John "Elmer" Barnhill, 101, Lincoln, died Saturday (04-19-08). Born February 24, 1907 to John E. and Nellie L. (Haskell) Barnhill at Crete. Owner of Barnhill Ice Co. for 52 years and formerly owned a small dairy, Barnhill Acres, for 10 years. Member: Havelock United Methodist Church.
Survived by: son, daughter-in-law, Leonard and Darlene, Lincoln; daughters, sons-in-law, Betty and Richard Fischer, Plattsmouth; and Lorraine and Donald Lawson, Cordova, Term.; seven grandchildren and spouses, Richard and Janet Fischer, Milford; Peggy and Bill Carson; Janet and John Sharp; Scott and Shari Barnhill, all of Lincoln; Matt and Robyn Lawson, Cortland; Carol and Steve Hoffman, Overland Park, Kan,; Debra Barnhill and significant other. Casey Mover, Nebraska City, 14 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; special niece, Wanda Ebben, Lincoln; plus other nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by wife, Cecile; parents; three brothers, Daniel; Howard; and William; and sister, Ione Elliott."
