June 6, 1907 Norton, Kansas, "Norton county people were schocked and grieved Sunday
morning May 26 by the news that Harry Webb was drowned at Rainer, Oregon, Friday,
May 24, 1907. Harry was trying 1o rescue a companion, when he became excited,
drawing himself and Harry to their deaths.
The remains were brought home Thursday evening and on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock a
brief funeral service, in charge of Rev. Drummond was held at the home of Mr. Mark Smith.
The interment was made in the Norton cemetery.
Harry F. Webb, son of George and Ljdia Webb, was born in Newton, Jasper Co., Iowa,
Sept. 9, 1875. He came to Norton county in 1887 and was married to Miss Charlotta Howell
Jan. IS, 1898. He leaves a wife and two children, father, mother, two sisters,
and five brothers. His tragic and untimely death is sincerely mourned by a large circle
of friends and the bereft family has the sympathy of the entire community.

August 18, 1910 Norton, Kansas, Mrs. Geo. Webb died at her home in Norton, Monday, aged 77 years. Funeral took place Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock.
" Obituary. Mrs. Lydia Webb, daughter of David and Nancy Mills,
was born in Franklin county, Pennsylvania, January 8, 1833, and died in
Norton, Kansas, August 15, 1910, aged 77 years, 7 months and 7 days.
She was married to Mr. George Webb June 19, 1849, and to them was born eleven children,
four having preceded her to future life. She was early in life connected with the U. B. church,
and as long as they lived in Pennsylvania, but for many years had lived where there was no church
of that denomination. Her life was one of most unselfish devotion to her family,
her neighbors and her friends."
Because George's brother John was a coal miner in 1900 Gunnison County, and then in Erie, Weld County, Colorado in 1910 and 1920, that might
be why George ventured to Colorado.

He had construction jobs in Yuma in the 1905-1909 newspaper articles.
September 1908 "George Webb is cutting corn while Johnnie shocks."
September 1908 George B. Webb was a witness for the claim of Morgan P. Smith for land in section 27, 5N 48W (fifteen miles north of Yuma.
