"Mrs. Mittie C. Woodruff, 101, this ccmmunity’s oldest resident, died Friday at the
Coleridge Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church in
Battle Creek. Rev. Rudolph Rojahn officiated, assisted by Rev. Gilbert.
Burial was in Union cemetery at Battle Creek. Pallbearers were Fred and Irvin Tiedgen,
Herbert Cox, Adolph Kuester, and Lawrence and John Walz.
Mrs. Wocdruff is survived by four sons, Tracy Hackler of Altadena, Calif.,
Edward Collins of Coleridge, Troy Collins of Olathe, Colo., and Clifford Collins of
Truth or Consequences, N. M., one daughter, Ima Redman of Talent, Ore., 37 grandchildren
and several great grandchildren. z
Mrs. Woodruff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Kennedy, was born March 5, 1857, at
Sparta N. C. She was married to George Hackler March 4, 1878. Mr. Hackler died in 1898.
She lived in Sparta and near Galax, Va., until 1903. She was married to Randall Collins
November 1, 1903. They moved to Battle Creek and lived on a farm until 1917,
when they retired and moved to town. Mr. Collins died December 23, 1924.
She married Moses Woodruff June 4, 1926, and he died August 29, 1938.
Mrs. Woodruff had lived with her son Edward for the past 20 years.
She was a member of the Primitive Baptist church. Mrs. Woodruff flew from San Francisco to
Omaha when she was 96 years old, after spending the winter in California.

and Mrs. M. C. Swails, Iowa City, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Harvey McConnell, Hartington,
Mr. and Mrs. Gene Collins and Bruce, Norfolk."

September 1899 "Wood Kennedy, formerly of Wray, has bought a farm one and a half
miles northwest of Fort Morgan. "
June 1899 Fort Morgan, Colorado " T. W. Kennedy, who ranches on the Gill place south of town,
sold his cattle ranch, about five miles southwest of town, to Joseph Samuels, of Iowa,
on Monday. Mr. Samuels has cattle interests in this section and will immediately put
his cattle on the land he has purchased. Incidentally we might mention that
Mr. Kennedy called at this office and cheerfully pushed his subscription up into the
1900 mark. "
July 1899 " T. W. Kennedy of Fort Morgan,
formerly of Wray, and Miss Maggie Hoben of Columbus Junction, Iowa,
were married at Denver this week. Every body around Wray remembers Little Wood,
as they called him, and will rejoice with him and wish the happy couple all the joy
in the world."
March 24, 1900 Wray "J. N. Kennedy of Dayville, Oregon, whom we used to greet here
as Wood Kennedy, writes March 11th. Our baby boy was born yesterday, All doing well"

" Funeral services for Thomas Woodford Kennedy, 80, who died Saturday,
were conducted Monday afternoon at Grace Evangelical and Reformed Church, with the pastor,
Rev. J. Lynn Pace officiating. Mrs. Roy W. Jean and Mrs. Clyde Wolford sang,
'The Touch of His Hand on Mine" and "God Will Take Care of You." Miss Hilda Owen was accompanist.
Pallbearers were Rollo McKean, Frank Wall, Russell Adams, Dennis Christiahson,
O. E. Nicholson and Frank Gooch. Flower attendants were Mrs. Rollo McKean,
Mrs. Frank WalL Mrs. Russell Adams, Mrs. Dennis Chrlstianson.
Burial was in Conesville cemetery.
Thomas Woodford Kennedy was born in Wilkes county, N. Car., Aug. 20, 1859.
the son of William and Amanda Kennedy. He married Margaret Hoben, June 29, 1899 in Denver, Colo.
She died July 7, 1905, leaving two sons, William P., now of Detroit, Mich., and Ralph H. of
Iowa City. Mr. Kennedy was married to Pearl McCullough Lovelett, May 5, 1911,
two sons being born of this union; Glenn, now of Iowa City and Dale at home.
Other survivors besides his wife are, two stepdaughters, Mrs. M, C. Swailes, of Columbus
Junction, and Mrs. E. E. Perrm, of Malvern: one sister, Mrs. Moses Woodruff, of Malvern;
and ten grandchildren. His parents and one sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Kennedy was a member of Grace Reformed church in Conesville.

Muscatine, Iowa "Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Evangelical and Reformed church
by the Rev. A. C: Proehl of Iowa City for Ralph Hoben Kennedy, 44, who died July 25, 1946
at Tucson, Arizona. Miss Lorena Maxwell sang two selections at the service,
accompanied by Mrs. Mary McKee. Pallbearers were Harold McCullough, Forrest Bebb,
Austin Bebb, Glen Nicholson, Forrest Maxwell and Rollo McKeam.
Flower attendants were Marie Williams, Gertie Bebb. Delia Bebb, and Letha Nicholson.
Burial was at the Conesville cemetery.
Mr. Kennedy was born near Columbus Junction, April 20, 1902, being son of
G. W. and Margaret Hoben Kennedy. He spent his early years in Oakland township.
He married Margaret Loving July 18, 1925, at Iowa City. He had been employed at
Iowa City until about two years ago, when his health failed, and
the family moved to Arizona. a
Surviving are his widow, three children, Ruth, Margaret Katherine, and Richard, all at home,
his stepmother. Mrs. Pearl! Kennedy of Conesville, three brothers, William, Glen, and Dale, and
two sisters, Mrs. Fern Perrin and Mrs. Verlea Swailes, all of Iowa City.
Several from Muscatine, Iowa City, Columbui Junction and Lone Tree attended funeral services."

"KENNEDY, Glen, age 89, born January 6, 1915 in Conesville, Iowa,
passed away February 6, 2004. Survived by his wife of 65 years, Pearl; brother, Dale;
daughters, Nancy Fowler of Tucson and Glenda Corrigan of Minneapolis; son, Tom of Denver;
eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Glen was a Bronze Star medalist and
was a prisoner of war in Germany in WWII. He worked for Walnut Grove Feed Company and retired
at age 70.
A 1:00 p.Ai. memorial service will be held on Saturday,
February 21, 2004 at the Cajalina United Methodist Church on Speedway."

Cedar Rapids, Iowa "John “Dale” Kennedy, 95, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, June 7, 2013,
at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Memorial services will be
10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW.
Inurnment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted.
Dale was born Nov. 16, 1917, in Conesville, the son of Thomas Wood and Grace Pearl (McCullough)
Kennedy. Dale was a professional baseball player before joining the United States Army.
He was well decorated for his service during World War II, earning 5 Bronze Stars, the American
Defense Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Ribbon. He was stationed in Europe, including Normandy,
Northern France, Rhineland, and The Ardennes. He married Maxine Davis in 1947 in Cedar Falls.
Dale worked for Peter Pan Bakery, Globe Manufacturing, and also was the sporting goods manager
at Armstrong’s until his retirement. He enjoyed sports, including baseball at all levels,
watching the Iowa Hawkeyes football and basketball, and spending time with his friends and neighbors
discussing the ways of sport and life. Dale was privileged to go on an Honor Flight to Washington,
D.C., in October 2012.
Dale is survived by his sons, Steve Grammar of Nice, Calif., and Larry Kennedy of Ely;
and his grandchildren, Jill Kennedy and Lora Overbeck.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine, on June 22, 2001; and his siblings. "
