April 6, 1911 " Chas. Gentry, who has been sick a number of weeks,
was not expected to live the fore part of the week, but
later was reported somewhat improved."
April 14 "Mr. C. A. Gentry, who, together with his family, came to Wray
last fall, and who has been sick for several months, died last Saturday noon.
Mr. Gentry had been a patient sufferer for a number of weeks,
and while everything possible was done by physician, family and friends
to give him relief, disease had obtained such a hold on his system that
nothing availed and he quietly passed away as above mentioned.
The funeral was held Sunday at the residence, in the east part of town,
conducted by Elder Walthall, and the remains were laid to rest in
Grand View under the auspices of Wray Lodge of Odd Fellows,
of which order he was a member, and which order extended to Mr.
Gentry and family great assistance caring for him during his illness. z
He leaves a wife and children to mourn his demise, and to them the
sympathy of tne community is extended."

January 1917 "Marion Gentry , who resides with his mother , brother and sisters , just east of town , was taken into custody last Saturday by Sheriff Hitchcock on complaint made by his mother charging him with beating her and abusing other members of the family , and with bold threats . Monday the complaint was dismissed and the accrued costs paid by the mother and Marion released ."
August 17, 1933 "Sadie L. Johnson was born at Dellaplane, North Carolina,
November 22, 1874, and departed this life at her home in Wray, Colo.,
August 14, 1933.
At an early age she moved with her parents to Hooper, Nebraska,
and was baptized in the Baptist church, and continued in the faith until the
end. On August 17, 1892, she was united in marriage to Charles Alfred Gentry,
at Stanton, Neb. To this union were born seven children, two of whom have
preceded her in death, an infant son, Charles Freeman, and Royal A.,
a World War veteran, who died in July 1929.
From Stanton, they moved to Indianola, Neb., where they resided about
two years, and then moved to Danbury, Neb., where Mr. Gentry operated a
blacksmith shop until their decision to come to Colorado, where Mr.
Gentry filed on a homestead. Mrs. Gentry has resided here In Wray since 1910.
Her husband, Chas. A. Gentry, preceeded her in death, April 8, 1911.
She was always a kind, faithful and loving mother, raising her family to
maturity. She was never known to complain, and always carried her burdens
with a smile.
Those left to mourn her passing are, her children: Marion E. Gentry,
Mrs. Edith A. Carroll, and Mrs. Roberta Bell, all of Wray,
Mrs. Elsie Phifer of Wathena, Kansas, and Mrs. Gretta Graham of Rapid City,
S. D. One grand child, Alfred, who has made his home with Mrs. Gentry
since the death of his mother, Mrs. Marian E. Gentry; four brothers:
Will Johnson of Plumtree, North Carolina, Mose Johnson of Stanberry, Mo.,
Dan C. Johnson of Nickerson, Nebr., and George W. Johnson of Florence,
Colo.; and a host of friends and other relatives who will miss her
sincerely.
Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon,
conducted by Rev. C. E. Powell. Interment was in Grandview Cemetery."

July 5, 1928 "Mrs. Ethel Gentry, wife of Marion Gentry of this city,
passed away last Thursday, June 28, at the home of her sister, Mrs. Ella Gant,
in this city.
Her death followed a prolonged illness, during which time Mrs. Gentry made
an heroic fight for her life.
Ethel Walsh was born at Stratton, Neb., May 13, 1901.
She was only 27 years, one month and 15 days old at the time of her death.
Funeral services were held on Friday, June 29, at 2 p. m., the service being
held at the home of Mrs. Ella Gant, with Rev. Guy Nelson, pastor of the
Nazarene church, in charge. The body was laid to rest in the Eckley cemetery.
Mrs. Gentry is survived by her husband and son and an adopted daugnter,
by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Walsh, of Eckley, by two brothers,
Guy of this city, and George of McCook, and by four sisters, as well as
a host of less near relatives and friends.
The sincere sympathy of many friends is extended the bereaved relatives
in their hour of great sorrow."

December 1931 "Mrs. Marion Gentry is in the Wray hospital suffering from a rifle shot in the right knee. The rifle ball shattered the right knee cap breaking it into a number of pieces, according to report."
March 6, 1952 "Mr. and Mrs. Marion Gentry were called to Holyoke last week by the death of Mrs. Gentry’s father who had been ill for some time. The services on Monday were also attended by Mrs. Gentry’s daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Lavem Burkhart of Denver, and her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Taylor of North Platte, Neb. Both couples came to Wray for a short visit with the Gentrys."

July 18, 1929 "Royal A. Gentry, well known Wray boy, passed away Tuesday,
July 9, after a prolonged illness. Funeral services were held at the home of
his mother, Mrs. Sadie Gentry, Thursday afternoon, July 11, at 2:30 o’clock.
Interment was at Grandview cemetery. Rev. A. M. Carpenter conducted the
service at the home and the American Legion fired a salute and sounded taps at
the grave.
Royal Alfred Gentry was born at Danbury, Red Willow county, Nebraska,
February 17, 1897 and departed this life July 9th, at Fitzsimmons General
Hospital at Denver at the age of 32 years, 4 months and 22 days.
He came to Wray with his parents in November, and made this his home until
he enlisted in the army of the World War in May, 1917. He attained the rank
of Corporal and was in service overseas until April 24, 1919,
when he returned to Camp Funston where he was discharged.
Since then he has made his home on the western coast.
He was taken ill in September, 1927, and was in Govenment hospital
at Sawtelle, Calif., until April 1929. He was transferred to Fitzsimmons
General Hospital, where every care and kindness was shown him until his
death. He suffered continually during this time, always patient,
cheerful and considerate of others before himself.
He leaves to mourn his departure a mother, Mrs. Sadie Gentry of Wray,
a brother, Marion, and four sisters, Mrs. Bryan Carrol of Wray,
Elsie, Gretta and Roberta. His father and one brother preceded him into
the Great Beyond. Besides many relatives, he leaves a host of friends
and comrades who mourn his departure."

October 1934 "Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Carroll departed Wednesday for Grand Junction
where they expect to make their home in the future. Mr. Carroll has leased his farm to
Walter Hayes of Hugo, who will move to the Carroll place the first of March.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Graham reside at Grand Junction.
Mrs. Graham and Mrs. Carroll are sisters.
Mr. and Mrs. Carroll are driving over to Grand Junction in their car. They have ordered The Rattler sent to their address in order that they may receive the news weekly from their old home."
July 1937 "Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Carroll left last Wednesday morning for Denver where Mr. Carroll expects to work during the summer. Mrs. Carroll will go to Grand Junction to visit a sister for a short time."
July 1937 " Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Carroll will go to Denver today where they will be met by Mr. and Mrs. Willis Bell of Sterling and the. four will visit there until Sunday when Mr. and Mrs. Carroll will go to Grand Junction to visit Mr. and Mrs. Milton Graham. At the conclusion of their visit in Grand Junction they will return to Denver to remain indefinitely if Mr. Carroll finds suitable employment. "

"Edith Adelia Gentry was born August 11, 1895, to Charles and Sadie Gentry at
Danbury, Neb. She died January 31, 1963, after a long and suffering illness
at her home in Haigler, Neb. The Gentry family moved to Wray in 1910.
She was married to Byran Carroll of Haigler on December 16, 1914,
and the couple have resided most of their life since in the Haigler community.
Mrs. Carroll was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
She is survived by her husband, Byran Carroll; three sisters,
Mrs. Roberta Fletcher of Sandpoint, Idaho, Mrs. Gretta Graham of Hope, Idaho,
and Mrs. Elsie Finley of Spokane, Wash., and one brother, Marion Gentry of Wray."

Francis Bryan Carroll, the third son born to Frank A. and Coral Gilmore Carroll Aug. 14, 1893 near Haigler, Nebr., passed away March 12, 1978 at Denver, Colo. where he had been dividing his time between two sisters due to his health.
While growing up he attended school near and in Haigler. On Dec. 16, 1914 he was united in marriage with Edith Gentry at Wray, Colo.
He worked on farms and ranches mostly, during the early years of married life and at one time they owned a farm southwest of Wray. He also was employed at times on railroad crews. In the mid-forties they moved back to Haigler where he was employed at the electric plant, bought their home and eventually were custodians at the school which was his last employment.
Jan. 31, 1963, Edith was taken away due to cancer and since he was afflicted with emphysema, his health gradually deteriorated when he decided in July 1973 to go to Denver to seek medical aid but still maintained his home and address at Haigler, hoping to be able to return there to live the rest of his life.
Bryan was preceded in death by his wife Edith, his parents, sister Velda, brothers Charlie, Gayle, Emmett, John, and Bert.
Surviving to mourn his loss is brother Jim, sisters Josephine Cooper, Margaret (Sally) Welch and husband Eldred, sisters-in-law Millie Carroll all of Denver, Anna Gentry, Wray, Elsie Finlay, Gretta Graham and Roberta Fletcher in Washington and Idaho and numerous nieces, nephews including second and third generations and many friends.
Services were held March 15 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Wray and interment was in the family plot at Haigler."

January 16, 1930 "A wedding of interest occured late ..... afternoon when Miss Rober
ta Gentry of Wray became the bride of Mr. Willis Harold Bell of Wray. the
ceremony was performed by Rev. Henry Green. Mr. and Mrs. Bell left after Mr. Bell had played
the i at Olive Lake Resort Tuesday for Garden City, Kans., where they
will reside for the present. Mrs. Bell is a daughter of Mrs. Gentry of Wray.
She graduated the Wray high school and is a attractive and accomplished young lady.
Mr. Bell came to Wray with Mack's Break-O-Day orchestra, and is one of the popular members
of the band. Both these young people have many friends in Wray who wish success and happiness."
February 1932 "Willis Bell, former member of Mack’s Break ’O Day dance band, now has a dance band of his own with headquarters at Garden City, Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Bell were in Wray the first of the week visiting relatives but returned home Monday in time to play for a dance Monday night."
February 1933 "Mr. and Mrs. Willis Bell, who have been in Oklahoma the past few months,
visited in Wray a few days ago with relatives.
Mrs. Bell was formerly Miss Roberta Gentry. Mr. Bell has been associated with a dance band."

August 1933 "Two of the members of the Willis Bell dance orchestra have joined the Les Stanton orchestra, the Bell orchestra having disbanded. The two are Cliff Reese, and Herdy Swenford. Both are good musicians."
July 1937 "Mrs. Milton Graham of Grand Junction, and Mrs. Willis Bell
of Sterling were in Wray Tuesday afternoon visiting their brother,
Marion Gentry. Mesdames Graham and Bell will be remembered as
Misses Roberta and Gretta Gentry. They returned to Sterling Tuesday evening,
from which place Mrs. Graham will go to Fort Warren to visit her nephew,
Alfred Gentry, then to Rapid City to visit her sister, Mrs. John Phifer,
formerly Miss Elsie Gentry. "

June 1928 "The Rattler has received authentic information from Misses
Sadie Neff and Elsie Gentry that they have taken over the dining room of the
Curry hotel in Fort Morgan. In their note to the Rattler they say
"We want to thank the people of Wray for the compliments extended to
us while we were employed at the Commercial hotel. We shall try to extend the
same courtesy to every one at the dining room of the Curry hotel of
Fort Morgan, Colo.
Misses Sadie Neff and Elsie Gentry."

March 1931 "J. F. Phifer believes in honest advertising, and he heads
his sale bills for his farm sale at the Jess Smith place, 5 miles west and
3 south of Vernon on Wednesday, March 11, with a confession. John states that
he is selling his farm stock and equipment because he has grown too
“fat and lazy” to farm. We think that John is having a little joke abou
t the fat and lazy part of the bill, but there is no joke about the fact
that he has some mighty good stock and equipment that he will offer for
sale on this date. The offering includes 46 head of livestock, horses,
cows, and hogs, chickens, rabbits, guineas, machinery and feed, and
also (as John says) many other articles worth nothing to me and very
little to anyone else.” The Vernon Community Club will serve lunch at
noon, the First National Bank is clerking the sale and Phil J. Price
is the auctioneer. "

to join Mrs. Phifer, who had been here during the illness of her mother,
Mrs. Sadie Gentry. Mrs. Phifer is the former Elsie Gentry."

November 1932 " Mrs. Milton Graham of Spearfish, South Dakota,
had come to Wray to visit her mother, Mrs. Sadie Gentry. "
February 1949 "Mr. and Mrs. Milton L. Graham of Hope, Idaho,
arrived here last Thursday and visited at the Byran Carroll home in Haigler,
and the Marion Gentry home in Wray. Mrs. Graham will be emembered here as
Greta Gentry. The Grahams departed for their Idaho home the first of the
week. While in Wray the Grahams were pleasant callers at The Rattler office
Friday afternoon."
August 1955 "Mrs. Bryan Carroll of Haigler received word from her sister,
Mrs. Gretta Graham, that the latter lady’s husband, Milton L. Graham,
had been killed instantly on Monday, August 1, in Salt Lake City.
The former Wray resident was struck down and run over by a heavy truck.
Mr. Graham was a resident of Wray during the late 1920’5. He came here as a
member of a dance orchestra and remained here to make his home for several
years. He was a World War II veteran and had been in Salt Lake City for two
months undergoing medical treatment at the veterans’ hospital at Fort Douglas.
The body was shipped to Sand Point, Idaho, where the final rites were held
Friday afternoon in St. Agnes Episcopal church, the Rev. Stanley A. Watson
officiating. Burial was in the Hope, Idaho, cemetery with graveside service
in charge of the B.P.O. Elks. Mr. Graham was born April 14, 1908,
at Spearfish, S. D. He was married to Gretta L. Gentry on December 29, 1929,
at Cook, Neb. His wife; a sister, Leona Cumon, and a nephew, Lester Cumon,
survive him."
