Mr. Wilson married Martha A. Barton on July 4, 1876 at Big Rock, Illinois. In the early days they came to Nebraska, then to Colorado, homesteading near Idalia in 1908. Mrs. Wilson died Oct. 24, 1932. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson kept a kind and sheltering home for their children, friends and strangers. To the wayfaring stranger a light was kept in an uncovered window. To him who was caught in the storm, he found a ready refuge in this home. A dozen or more travelers in the early day found protection within the Wilson house against a raging blizzard. The children have not found words to fully express the kind, noble and loving spirit of this father. He had a host of friends. While enduring this last illness he was very patient. Among the nurses in attendance was his granddaughter, Mildred Colsten. Mr. Wilson was the last of seven children to pass beyond the sight of man. There were five boys and two girls.
The funeral service was held in the Vernon Methodist Church Monday, Feb. 24th, with Rev. Elery H. Stein in charge. The remains were laid to rest in Glendale cemetery. "
