In 1900 Red Willow County, Nebraska, Wesley Rozell is 45, Amanda Rozell 40 Wife, Lulu M. Rozell 19 Daughter, Minta E. Rozell 18 Daughter, Clarence W. Rozell 14 Son, Lucy A. Rozell 12 Daughter, Ralph B. Rozell 9 Son, Mary C. Rozell 7 Daughter, and Ethel V. Rozell 3 Daughter.


July 1912 "Mr. Ralph Rozell and Miss Gertrude Morrissey autoed up to Trenton Wednesday and were married, returning to McCook in the early evening to receive the congratulations of their many friends. - McCook Tribune.
Ralph Rozell is a younger brother of C. W. Rozell of the L. E. Barger Clothing Co. of Wray and his marriage was quite a surprise to Wray friends. "

March 1914 "Ralph Rozell, of McCook, Neb., was in Wray the latter part of last week. He is a younger brother of Clarence Rozell of the L. E. Barger Clothing Co., whose place he will take in the store here, while Clarence will leave Monday for McCook where he will take a position in his father's store. Ralph Rozell has purchased an interest in the Barger Clothing store, the business name of the firm now being Barger & Rozell. Clarence has made many friends since coming to Wray two years ago, who will miss him from their circle, but we prophesy that he will visit us often in the future for 'there is a reason.'"

1914 Wray

November 1914 "Mrs. C. C. Adams left yesterday morning for her home in Gray, Wyo., after spending a few days in Wray with her sister and brother, Mrs. L. E. Barger and Ralph Rozell. Mrs. Adams had been in McCook, Neb., visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Rozell."

1917 Wray

1924 Wray "Mrs. Harry Barger, formerly Miss Gladys Galbreath, is the bookkeeper at the Smith-Kearns garage."

February 1928 "Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Barger expect to move to Denver in the near future, with the idea of making that their home permanently. They are disposing of their household goods at private sale. The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Barger will be sad to learn of their intention to leave Wray."

February 1930 "Bonnie Joe Barger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Barger of Portland, Ore., was seriously burned recently While preparing dinner, Mrs. Barger, spilled a pan of boiling carrots and little Bonnie Joe happened to be at her mother’s heels, fortunately the water missed the little girls face but burned her arms and body badly. Latest reports are that she is doing nicely."

June 1933 " Mrs. L. E. Barger of Denver visited in Wray a short time the latter part of last week. Mrs. Barger was stopping with her sister. Mrs. John Clark of west of Wray. She was returning from a two weeks visit with her mother, Mrs. Rozell of McCook."

October 1938 "The Rattler learns that L. E. Barger, former Wray merchant who had been in the employ of the May Company in Denver, has recently started ‘ to work at the Golden Eagle store in that city."

September 1950 "Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Barger, former Wray residents now living in Denver at 1922 Sherman, observed their Golden Wedding anniversary on Wednesday, September 13. No special festivities marked the day as Mrs. Barger is an invalid. The couple have two sons, Theodore and Harry."


January 1963 "L. Earl Barger, a former Wray merchant, died last weekend at Lincoln, Nebr., where he had lived in recent years and where a son, Theodore Barger, lives.
The funeral service was held Wednesday at Lincoln. Mr. Barger operated a men's clothing store at Wray for a number of years and was well known in this community. He moved from here to Denver in the early 1930's and for many years was employed in the men's clothing department of the May Co. store.
His wife and one son, Harry Barger, preceded him in death. His son, Theodore, and two grandchildren survive him. "

"Amanda L. Sprague was born August 4, 1859 at Clarington, 0h., daughter of Mary and William Sprague. She died at McCook, Neb., April 3, 1937, following an illness of 10 days, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Addams at the age of 77 years, seven months and 29 days. She spent her youth in Clarington and at an early age united with the Christian church. On October 4, 1878, she was married to Wesley M. Rozell. They resided in Ohio until 1885, when they moved to Red Willow County and homesteaded in Coleman precinct.
To this union eight children were born: Clarence W. Rozell, Mrs. Lulu Barger, both of Denver; Mrs. Minta Gordon, Mrs. Mary Addams, Mrs. Ethel Brown, all of McCook; Mrs. Lucy Clark, Wray, Colo.; Mrs. Gladys Lundberg, Council Bluffs, Ia.; one son: Ralph, preceeded her in death in 1921.
The family resided on the farm until 1907, when they moved to McCook, and made their home at 609 East First street for many years. After the death of Mr. Rozell in 1929, Mrs. Rozell made her home with her children. After moving to town, Mr. Rozell was engaged in the clothing business, and he and his wife were prominently connected with civic, church and social affairs. They were affiliated with the First Baptist Church. Mrs. Rozell was always considerate of others, and her many acts of kindness to those in sorrow, or in unfortunate circumstances, was done in a quiet unassuming manner and many of these kind deeds were known only to those she aided. Surviving are the seven children. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 5 o’clock in the First Baptist church with Rev. Herbert M. Richmond officiating, assisted by Rev. Utterback. Burial was in Memorial Park."

November 14, 1940 "Mrs. Ethel Brown, 42, of McCook, passed away Friday morning following an illness of about one year. Mrs. Brown had lived in Cambridge and McCook all her life. Funeral services w’ere held Sunday at two o’clock at the First Congregational church in McCook. The remains will rest in Memorial Park cemetery 1 : Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband Hugh Brown,- by one brother Clarence Rozell of Denver and by five sisters Mrs. Mary Adams and Mrs. Minta Gordon of McCook, Nebraska, Mrs. Lucy Clark of Wray, Mrs. Gladys Lundberg of Council Bluffs, and Mrs. Lola Barger of Denver."

HARRY

November 1953 "Word has been received in Wray that Charles Galbreath, early day resident of this community, had suffered a stroke while visiting in Washington with his sons, Clarence and Floyd Galbreath, and daughter, Mrs. Harry Barger. He is being cared for at the White Acres home near them. "

September 3, 1959 "Harry Lewis Barger, 55, a former Wray resident, died unexpectedly Friday morning. Aug. 21, in a hospital at Everett, Wash. He had been in poor health for some time. Mr. Barger was born October 27, 1903, at McCook, Neb. He came to Wray when a boy and lived here for a number of years while his father. L. Earl Barger, operated a man's clothing store here. He attended Wray schools and was married here to the former Gladys Galbreath. The Bargers left Wray in 1925. They have lived in Everett, Wash., for the past nineteen years.
Funeral services were held Monday morning of last week in Everett. He was a member of the First Baptist church of Everett, and the Reverend Carlton Goodwin officiated at the rites. Private cremation and inurnment followed at View Crest Abbey. Mr. Barger's brother, Ted Barger of Lincoln, Neb., attended the services.
Surviving are Mr. Barger's wife, Gladys E. Barger of 1615 Colby, Everett, Wash.; a daughter, Mrs. Joan Vanderwilt of Bellevue, Wash.; two granddaughters; a grandson; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. Earl Barger of Lincoln, Neb., and a brother, Ted E. Barger, also of Lincoln."

TED

August 1928 "Through the courtesy of Mrs. Marne Hay, formerly of Wray and now a resident of Boulder, the Gazette was furnished with a copy of the Boulder Daily Camera of a week ago last Monday, containing an account of an informal announcment party held by Mrs. Gwendolyn McLaughlin of Boulder at which the engagement of her daughter, Miss Theodosia McLaughlin to Ted A. Barger of Lincoln was announced. The date of the wedding was set for Wednesday of that week. The Gazette was unable to obtain an account of the wedding for this issue, but the Boulder paper had the following to say of the prospective newlyweds: 'The bridegroom is to be Ted A. Barger, a graduate of the of Nebraska where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He is with the Nebraska Credit company at Lincoln, where they will make their home. Miss McLaughlin graduated from the university in 1928, and has been teaching since then, spending her vacations in Boulder. She is a member of Chi Omega and of Hesperia and Mortar Board. She was a member of the woman's athletic board and the Woman's League Vaudeville committee. Ted Barger is a former Wray boy, a graduate of the local high school with a wide acquantance in this community. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Barger, who recently moved from Wray to Denver. Miss McLaughlin taught one term in the Wray high school a few years ago, where she made the acquaintance of Mr. Barger, and where the romance began that developed into the wedding at Boulder."

April 1931 Wray "Mr. and Mrs. Ted Barger and little daughter of Lincoln, Neb. visited in Wray a few hours Monday. They were on their way home from Boulder where they had visited relatives. They were accompanied home by Mrs. Barger’s sister, Miss Ann McLaughlin."

August 1948 "Mr. and Mrs. Ted Barger, Teddy and Anne, visited at the home of the former's aunt, Mrs. J. C. Clark, last Wednesday as they were enroute to their home at Lincoln, Nebr., after spending ten days with relatives in Boulder and Denver. Other guests at the Clark home this week were Mrs. Clark's sisters, Mrs. Claude A. Adams, and Mrs. Charlie Gordon and her daughter Elsie of McCook."
