Memorial services for Perry Anderson, 34, who was killed in action on an island in the South Pacific, on May 13, will be held at the Methodist Church in Akron on Sunday, September 10. The Rev. Frank F. Dawson will be in charge of the services.
He was killed in the South Pacific early this year and was buried on Los Negros Island in the Admiralty group. He was born at Pinneo, Colorado, in 1910, but the family moved to Denver several years ago and he had lived there for some time. He went to the navy in November, 1943, and was shipped to the South Pacific a short time later.
He left to mourn his death two sisters, Mrs. L. R. Meyers of Carlsbad, New Mexico and Mrs. H. H. Schmidt of Akron, and one brother, J C Anderson of Fabens, Texas.

Memorial services for Perry Arthur Anderson. son of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Anderson of Akron, were attended by a large crowd at the Methodist Church in Akron last Sunday afternoon. The Rev. Frank E. Dawson, pastor of the Methodist Church, was in charge of the services.
Perry Arthur Anderson was born at Pinneo, Washington County, Colorado May 13, 1910. Mr. Anderson was a member of the United States Navy, went to his death in the line of duty, a little more than two months after his arrival in the Pacific war theater.
As a boy in his early teens, he was an enthusiastic Boy Scout worker. When a lad of 15, he moved with his parents to Lafayette, Colorado, where he attended high school and grew to manhood.
For a year and a half he worked for the Western Union Telegraph Company. For five years in his early twenties, he worked for the City of Denver. When defense work started prior to our entrance into the war, he worked on defense projects in various parts of the United States.
He was married to Rita Madele Fleer of Denver on March 7, 1937. He enlisted in the navy November 1, 1943 and received his preliminary training at Farragut, Idaho. Upon completing boot training he was assigned to a ship repair unit. On March 7, 1944 he sailed from San Francisco for overseas and was killed by anti-aircraft fire, while in the performance of his duty and in the service of his country May 13, 1944, at the age of 34 years.
He was buried with full military honors in the United States National Cemetery on Los Negros Island, Admiralty group.
He is survived by his wife, Rita of Denver; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Anderson of Akron; two sisters, Marie Schmidt of Akron and Ethel Meyer of Denver; one brother, J. C. Anderson of Fabens, Texas.

The body of Perry Anderson, seaman second class, will arrive in Akron Friday evening and graveside services will be held in the Akron Cemetery Saturday afternoon.
Mr. Anderson was exactly 34 years old at the time of his death, which occurred on May 13, 1944 in the South Pacific area, where he was killed in the service of his country.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Anderson of Akron.
