William Fredrich Dudden was born on October 7, 1901 to Tiemann and Martha Naggatz Dudden near Kenesaw, Nebraska. He passed away Sunday, September 21, 1997, 16 days prior to his 96th birthday, at his home near Holyoke.

 

Bill received his schooling in Adam's County, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kenesaw, Nebraska and has always been a faithful member of his church. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Holyoke at the time of his death.

 

On August 5, 1931 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Meester at Kenesaw, Nebraska. This past August, Bill and Dorothy celebrated 66 years of marriage. Together they made their home on different farms near Kenesaw for several years. Three of their sons were born while they lived in that area.

 

In 1938 Bill and Dorothy moved their family to the Amherst area where their daughter and another son were born.

 

Bill and Dorothy purchased land one mile west and one-quarter mile north of Holyoke in 1953. After moving a house and other buildings to the site they have made this their home for the past 44 years. Farming was Bill's lifetime occupation.

 

William F. Dudden was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Elsie.

 

Mr. Dudden is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Holyoke; four sons, Elmer and his wife, Elaine, of Golden, Darrel and his wife, June, of Hillrose, Delmar and his wife, Rosey, of Colorado Springs, Dale and his wife, Wilma, of Springfield; one daughter, Vivian Bahler and her husband, Bob, of Holyoke; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Hinz of Kenesaw, Nebraska and Helen Bostick of Dallas, Texas; one sister-in-law, Lavina Wind of Puyallup, Washington; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Funeral services for William Fredrich Dudden will be held on Friday, September 26, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Holyoke with Pastor Gary Rahe officiating. Interment will follow in Holyoke Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the Lutheran Hour or to a charity chosen by the contributor.
