WARD CHANDLER

Ward Chandler was born on December 17, 1924, on the Chandler ranch southeast of Holyoke. He was the fifth child and fourth boy born to Lee and Anna Arnold Chandler. He died on September 27, 1991, in Holyoke.
During his childhood he attended school in western Chase County, Nebraska and Phillips County. Ward lived on the family ranch except for a period of time while in the service and when he worked in Puyallup, Washington and in Chandler, Arizona.
He served his country in WWII in the army, serving in Japan. He received the Army of Occupational Medal, the Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal. Ward became a member of the First Christian Church of Holyoke on February 3, 1985. He never married.
After his father died, Ward made his home in Holyoke with his mother until her death. He enjoyed three years of retirement until he became ill and moved back to the family ranch to live with his brother Calvin. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers Royal, Donald, Dale and Max. Ward is survived by two sisters, Dola Wood of Gulfport, Mississippi and Shirley Kroeger of Holyoke; two brothers, Nile of Concord, California and Calvin of Holyoke; many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday, September 30, at the First Christian Church in Holyoke with Ken Boswell officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
