SERVICES ARE HELD FOR MRS. G. BRUNKEN

 

Funeral services were held from the Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Holyoke, Tuesday afternoon, for Mrs. George Brunken of Holyoke, who passed away, Friday, May 2 at the age of 70 years, two months and twenty-four days. Services at the church were in charge of Rev. R. Einspahr and burial was made in the Holyoke cemetery.

 

Verna Johanna Hinrichs, daughter of John L. and Tilla Hinrichs, was born February 8, 1877 in Germany. She came to America with her parents, arriving here June 3, 1893. They settled at Glenville, Nebraska. She was married to

George J. Brunken at Hastings, Nebraska on August 5, 1897. This union was blessed with four sons and seven daughters. Two sons and one daughter preceded her in death. Johann in infancy, George in 1939, and Mrs. Sophia

Tomberlin in 1935.

 

The family moved to Colorado in 1916, making their home in the Amherst and Holyoke community.

 

She was baptized in the Lutheran Church in infancy and was a member of this church at the time of her death. She had been in failing health for several years and very poor health the past four months.

 

She leaves to mourn her death her husband, George Brunken of Holyoke; two sons, John of Haxtun and Conrad of Holyoke. Six daughters, Mrs. Clarence Nierman, Mrs. Emery Thomas, Mrs. Verna Grier and Mrs. Michael Hawkins of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Arthur Rodeman of Richland, Washington and Mrs. F.W. Nierman of Holyoke, also twenty grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
