Velma Josephine (Winter) Finnigsmie-Alexander

Velma Josephine Alexander was born on December 9, 1911 in Clatonia, Nebraska to William and Anna (Struckmeyer) Winter.

 

She married George Whittaker on September 12, 1934. After George passed away in 1937, she married Henry Finnigsmier on July 28, 1941. Henry passed away in 1952. Velma then married Edwin Alexander. He also preceded her in death in 1979.

 

Velma enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing, crocheting and gardening. She also loved animals and children.

 

Preceding her in death were husbands George Whittaker, Henry Finnigsmier and Edwin Alexander; sisters Alice DeBolt and Irene Weers; brother Elmer Winter; grandson Kyle Finnigsmier; and great grandson Mitch Whittaker.

 

Survivors are children Dick and Bobbie Whittaker, Dwaine Whittaker and Lori Allphin, Kay and Jim Majeres, Fred and Sharon Finnigsmier, Harry Finnigsmier, and Larry Finnigsmier; sister Ruth Ashmore; brother Orval Winter; 20 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 25 at the Church of the Brethren in Haxtun with Rev. Roy Pfaltzgraff officiating. Burial followed in the Haxtun Cemetery.
