SOUDERS SERIOUSLY WOUNDS EX-WIFE, TAKES HIS OWN LIFE.
Mrs. Edna Souders, 52-year-old daughter of Mrs. Frieda Radtke and the late Carl Radtke, was critically wounded when shot by her estranged husband in the backyard of her Keenesburg home on Tuesday, January 26, at about 12:15 p.m.
Souders then shot himself to death. At last report Mrs. Souders remained on the serious list in a Denver hospital with bullet wounds, one in her temple and another in her hand and throat. Weld County officers said Frank Souders, 73, had been living in Sterling. He died at the scene of a .38 caliber pistol bullet wound in the head.The couple had three daughters, ages 16 and 17 and one out of school. Mrs. Souders is a sister of Mrs. John Triplette and Floyd Radtke.

MRS. EDNA SOUDERS DIES; LAST RITES HELD HERE MONDAY
Mrs. Edna Souders of Keenesburg, once a resident of Holyoke, passed away last Thursday night, January 28, at Colorado General Hospital in Denver. She was 52 years of age. Mrs. Souders died of gunshot wounds in the head and neck. She was shot by her estranged husband, Frank Souders, in the yard of her home in Keensburg early last Tuesday afternoon, January 26. Souders then shot himself to death.
As Edna Rose Radtke, a daughter of Carl and Frieda Radtke, Mrs. Souders was born near Holyoke on January 17, 1913. She was reared in this community and attended Phillips County schools. In 1928, she was married to Albert Kline, and to this union was born one daughter, Doris.
On September 27, 1944, she was married to Frank Souders. Four daughters were born to this union, all of whom survive. Mrs. Souders was a member of the Pleasant Valley E.U.B. church, but attended the Keensburg Methodist church after moving there. Survivors include five daughters, Doris, Mrs. Bud Meyers, Springview, Nebraska, and Linda, Mary, Vianna and Rosalie Souders, Keensburg; her mother, Mrs. Frieda Radtke, Holyoke; one brothers, Floyd Radtke, Holyoke; one sister, Margaret, Mrs. John Triplette, Holyoke; one grandson; one granddaughter; two nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Among those preceding her in death were her father, Carl Radtke, and one sister, Mabel, who died in childhood.
Funeral services for Mrs. Souders were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 1, at the Holyoke Christian church, with James Dobyns officiating. Interment was at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. The Lewis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
