Infant Daughter of Keith Rodeman’s Dies

 

Rites were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 8, at the Lewis Funeral Chapel for Holly Kay Rodeman, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Rodeman of Amherst.

 

The baby was born Friday, October 4, at the Julesburg hospital and passed away four days later. The Rodeman’s have one other child, a daughter.

 

Officiating at the services was Rev. Theodore Schauland, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Amherst. Interment was at the Amherst Lutheran Cemetery.

 

 

 

 

SHIRLEY JANE (BRINKEMA) RODEMAN

Shirley Jane Rodeman died May 1, 2007 at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, following a stroke.

 

Shirley was the second of five children born to Harry and Leona (Krueger) Brinkema. She was born October 11, 1939 at her parents’ home near Venango, Nebraska and was baptized in Venango, on October 29, 1939. Shirley and her family moved to Amherst in 1943 where she attended both public and parochial schools through eighth grade. She was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amherst May 3, 1953. She attended high school at South High in Denver and lived in Denver until graduation in May of 1957.

 

Shirley married Keith Rodeman on August 3, 1958 - this year would have marked their 49th wedding anniversary. The couple had four children: Lena, Holly, Roderic and Boyd.

 

Shirley was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amherst. She participated in Women of St. Paul’s, Cradle Roll, Flower Committee, banner placement and assisted in many other tasks too numerous to mention. Recently Shirley and Keith were selected Ambassadors of the year for the Rocky Mountain District of the International Lutheran Laymen’s League.

 

In addition to her church activities, Shirley loved crafting cards for her family and friends, sewing, decorating her yard, completing find-a-word puzzles, fishing, gardening and working in her flower garden.

 

Shirley will be remembered for her unselfish and dedicated volunteer work to the elderly at the nursing home in Holyoke. She was recently acknowledged again for her service at Regent Park Nursing & Rehab during National Volunteer week. She also volunteered at the Senior Center in Holyoke and was an active member of 13 DL. In addition, she was a devoted helpmate to her husband Keith and dedicated mother to her children.

 

She was preceded in death by her father Harry; mother Leona, father-in-law Leonard, mother-in-law Lenore and daughter Holly.

 

She is survived by husband Keith, daughter Lena and husband Tim McCoy of Cave Creek, Arizona; son Roderic and wife Becky Rodeman of Rochester, New Hampshire; son Boyd and wife Christina Rodeman of Newton, Kansas; sister Garnett and husband Mike Templeton of Brandon, Nebraska; sister Norma Dickerson of Sterling; brother Harry and wife Sally Brinkema of Holyoke; and sister Jenet Enninga of Fort Morgan.

 

Shirley is also survived and loved by her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as two grandchildren Samantha and Nicholas Rodeman of Rochester, New Hampshire. Memorial services were held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amherst at 2 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2007, with Rev. Alan Borcher officiating. Inurnment followed at the Amherst Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Lutheran Laymen’s League Northeastern Colorado Zone Scholarship Fund. Memorials may be sent c/o St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 7, Amherst, CO 80721.

 

Gerk Funeral Home in Holyoke was in charge of the arrangements.
