MRS. MARY BRANDT DIES AT BRUSH; RITES SATURDAY
Mrs. Mary Brandt, who resided in the Holyoke community for 32 years, passed away Wednesday, January 5, at a home for the aged in Brush, Colorado. She was 88 years old.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Holyoke Baptist Church, with Rev. Alvah C. Lynch officiating. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park. Arrangements were in charge of the Lewis Funeral Home.
As Mary Radtke, Mrs. Brandt was born October 6, 1866, near Berlin, Germany. She was united in marriage to Frank Brandt in Germany on January 25, 1887. They came to the United States in April, 1888, and settled near Albion,
Nebraska.
In 1910, the family moved to Gregory, South Dakota, where they resided until the spring of 1920, when they moved to a farm north of Holyoke. Mr. and Mrs. Brandt retired from the farm in 1926 and moved to Holyoke. Mr. Brandt passed away on February 3, 1948, and Mrs. Brandt continued to make her home in Holyoke until June 1, 1952, when she entered the home for the aged at Brush. In young womanhood Mrs. Brandt became a member of the Methodist church at Albion, Nebraska. She joined the Baptist church after moving here. Mrs. Brandt was the
oldest charter member of the Willing Helpers club of this community.
Mr. and Mrs. Brandt were the parents of nine children, one of whom died in infancy. Surviving are four sons, Carl Brandt, West Plains, Missouri, Otto Brandt, Loveland, Colorado, William Brandt, Giltner, Nebraska, and Herbert Brandt of Holyoke; four daughters, Mrs. Freda Detmer, new Plymouth, Idaho, Mrs. Ella Rittle, Kadoka, South Dakota, Mrs. Martha Goodman, Canyon, Texas, and Mrs. Augusta Scholl, Holyoke; thirty grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Detmer, Loveland; Mr. and Mrs. Orville Brandt and Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Sharp and son, Gene, Greeley; Mr. and Mrs. Sol Rittel, Kadoka, South Dakota; Miss Norma Jean Brandt, Denver; Mrs. Freda Detmer, New Plymouth, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Goodman and Dewayne Brandt, Canyon, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brandt and children, Shirley and Charles, Sterling; and William Brandt and sons, Dean and Delmer, Giltner, Nebraska.
