Mae G. Franson, 98, died at the Heritage Living Center, Haxtun, on Friday, November 26, 1999. A 1 p.m. funeral service was held on Monday, November 29, at the Fairfield Covenant Church with the Rev. Tom Ervasti officiating. Burial followed at the Holyoke Memorial Park.

 

Mae was born on March 1, 1901, at Marquette, NE. She was the daughter of William and Laura [Jones] Skipworth.

 

Much of Mae's life was spent helping her father on various farms. They lived and worked as housekeepers in homes. On February 24, 1946, she married Bernard Franson and became an instant mother to his seven-year-old daughter. In addition to being an avid gardener, Mae loved learning, music, and her family.

 

She was a member of the Holyoke Nazarene Church, and was also active in the Fairfield Covenant Church while she lived in the Fairfield Community.

 

Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Hadeen and husband Harold; a sister, Alta Ruch, Holyoke; a brother, Kenneth Skipworth, Sterling; two granddaughters, Ruth Collier, Haxtun, and Mary Ditter, Fort Morgan; a grandson, Steve Hadeen, Haxtun, and a number of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bernard, and her brother William.
