Pleasant Valley Farmer Dies At Age Of 56; Buried At State Line
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Pleasant Valley schoolhouse for Bertrand Jaycox, 56, who died at 1 o'clock Saturday morning from pneumonia. Burial was in the State Line cemetery near Pleasant Valley. N.F. Horn, pastor of the Christian church of Holyoke, officiated at the services.
Mr. Jaycox had been a resident of the Pleasant Valley community since 1915, when he came here with his family from Hayes County, Nebraska. Mr. Jaycox was born at Rock Rift, New York, September 17, 1878, and came with his parents to Hayes County, Nebraska, in 1886. The family returned to New York in 1894, and in the spring of 1895 Mr. Jaycox again came to Hayes County with his older brother, Chester, and engaged in farming.
Mr. Jaycox was married to Miss Beulah Beam April 27, 1910, and the family came to Phillips County in 1915, residing here since that time. Mr. Jaycox was a member of the Modern Woodman of America at Hayes Center, Nebraska.
Surviving are his widow, three sons, Everett and George of Wauneta, Nebraska and Kenneth at home, five daughters, Mrs. Juanita Coles of Hastings, Nebraska and Verna, Betty, Lois and Wanda at home, one grandson, three brothers, Chester A. of Hayes Center, Nebraska, Hubert and Edwin of Howard, New York, two sisters, Mrs. Lotta Skinner and Mrs. Florence Smith of Binghamton, New York.

Pleasant Valley Woman Is Victim Of Cancer; Nine Children Survive
Funeral services for Mrs. Beulah Jaycox, a resident of the Pleasant Valley community for more than 20 years, took place Tuesday afternoon, following her death Sunday at 2 a.m. at her home. Mrs. Jaycox was a victim of cancer.
N.F. Horn, pastor of the Christian church, officiated at the funeral services which took place at the Pleasant Valley schoolhouse. Burial was at the State Line cemetery beside the body of the husband, Bertrand Jaycox, who died May 4, 1935.
Nine children, eight of whom are at home, survive Mrs. Jaycox. The youngest of these, Alberta, was born after the death of the father. Beulah Beryl Beam was born February 16, 1892, at Hayes Center, Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Bertrand Jaycox at that place April 2, 1910, and resided there until 1915, when they moved to Phillips County, where the family has since made its home. Everett, George, Kenneth, Vera, Lois, Betty, Wanda and Alberta are the children at home, while one daughter, Mrs. Wauneta Coles, resides at Tieton, Washington. Mrs. Jaycox is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Martha Jean Beam of Hayes Center, and three brothers and two sisters. One brother, Guy, met death in the World war in the battle of the Argonne.
Roy Beam of Dallas Center, Iowa, Edward Beam of Proctor, Colorado, Luther Beam of Hayes Center, Nebraska, Mrs. Ida Adrian and Mrs. Blanche Adrian, both of Dallas Center, are the brothers and sisters who came for the funeral services, and Mrs. Jaycox’s mother, Mrs. Beam, has been here also. The children will continue to reside on the farm southeast of Holyoke, and Mrs. Beam will remain here with them for a short time at least. The Iowa persons, including Charles Ripcharp of Dallas Center, a nephew of Mrs. Jaycox, left Wednesday morning for their homes.

Everett E. Jaycox was born January 4, 1911 in Hayes Center, NE. He was the son of Bertrand and Beulah Jaycox and moved with his family from Hayes Center, NE to Holyoke as a child.
Everett was married to Pearl Martin on December 10, 1938. They were engaged in farming in the Pleasant Valley community east of Holyoke until their retirement in 1976 when they moved to their present home in Holyoke.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Kenneth Jaycox. Everett is survived by his wife Pearl of Holyoke; children Leland of Colorado Springs, Nancy L. Isaacson of Ft. Collins, Karen S. Hogsett of Loveland and Jerry of Ft. Collins; one brother George Jaycox of Tumwater, WA; six sisters Wauneta Cole of Elma, WA, Lois Fernstrom of Yakima, WA, Vera Hagemann of Holyoke, Betty Mintling of Wauneta, NE, Wanda Hickenbottom of Washington State, Albert Karraker of Mesa, AZ and seven grandchildren.
Everett passed from this life May 11, 1988 in Holyoke. Services were held Saturday, May 14, 1988 from the United Methodist Church in Holyoke with Jim Mort officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
PEARL VIOLA MARTIN JAYCOX

Pearl Viola Martin Jaycox of Holyoke died Sunday evening, August 19, 2001 in Greeley at the age of 85. She was born August 4, 1916 in Holyoke, the daughter of Roy Martin and Ruth Briggs Martin. She lived in the Holyoke area all of her life. Pearl loved gardening, reading and was an avid quilter. She was happiest when she was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Pearl and Everett Jaycox were married December 10, 1938. They lived and farmed in the Pleasant Valley area. In 1976 they retired and moved to Holyoke. Everett preceded her in death on May 11, 1988. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Holyoke and the Crafty Quilters quilting group.
Preceding her in death was her husband Everett; half-sister Fern Deselms; brother Glen Martin; half-sister Betty Sullivan; and granddaughter Kerie Jaycox. Pearl Viola Jaycox is survived by her children Leland Jaycox and his wife Carol of Colorado Springs, Nancy Isaacson and her husband Gerald of Fort Collins, Karen Hogsett and her husband Dennis of Loveland and Jerry Jaycox and his wife Nancy of Eaton; sister Mabel Triplette of Holyoke; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Pearl Jaycox were conducted Thursday, August 23 at First United Methodist Church in Holyoke with Rev. Darrell Dennis officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant ValleyCemetery, Holyoke.
