FRED BALDERSON DIES; RITES THURS., CHRISTIAN CHURCH

 

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 24, from the First Christian Church, Holyoke, for James Freddie Balderson, 85, who passed away at Melissa Memorial Hospital, Tuesday, July 22, 1969. He had been in failing health for several months.

 

Rev. Don Gordon, minister of the church, officiated. Burial was in Holyoke Memorial Park. Arrangements were in charge of Thompson Mortuary, Holyoke.

 

James Freddie Balderson, son of J.E. and Rebecca Balderson, was born October 25, 1883, at Firth, Nebraska. When a small boy the family moved to Cortland, Nebraska, where he grew to manhood.

 

On January 5, 1903 he was married to Phebe Beatrice Bailey at Beatrice, Nebraska. They made their home near Cortland until the spring of 1917 when they moved to Holyoke, here they farmed and raised livestock for several years before moving to town. To this union one son and three daughters were born.

 

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Leota, one granddaughter, one grandson, one great grandson, and one great granddaughter.

 

He is survived by his wife, Phebe, two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Brown, Fleming, Mrs. Goldie Kettley, Holyoke; a son, Earnest Balderson, Wray; two brothers, Perl, Amherst, and Benson, Beatrice, Nebraska, ten grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, eleven great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
