HENRY F. BEHNFELDT IS CALLED BY DEATH
Retired Farmer Succumbs Here After Series Of Paralytic Strokes
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for Henry F. Behnfeldt, who died Monday noon. He had suffered several paralytic strokes during the past year and had been in ill health for some time. The funeral services were held at the Zion Lutheran Church, the sermon being preached by the pastor of the church, Rev. R. Einspahr. The remains were laid to rest in the Holyoke cemetery.
Mr. Behnfeldt and his family had been residents of the Holyoke community since 1906 when they came here from Ohio, where Mr. Behnfeldt was born February 21, 1868, his birthplace being Defiance. He was married November 2, 1893 to Sophia Holers at Defiance. Shortly after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Behnfeldt moved to their farm near Sherwood, Ohio, where they resided for 13 years.
In 1906 the family moved to Holyoke, Colorado, settling on a farm 10 miles southeast of Holyoke, where they lived until 1918 when they moved to Holyoke.
Mr. Behnfeldt was confirmed and became a member of the Lutheran church at the age of 14. He was a charter member of the Holyoke church and in 1907 organized the church. He was elder of this church for 17 years.
Surviving are his wife, a son, Otto of Seminole, Oklahoma, two daughters, Mrs. Verna Beck of Carrizozo, New Mexico, and Mrs. Geneva Finch of Holyoke, two brothers, John and Ernest and two sister, Sophia Gerken and Mrs. Ida Elling, all of Ohio, and six grandchildren.
