Gustav Bernard K. Franson, the son of Franz and Amanda Svenson Carlson, was born May 21, 1892 in Savsjo Smaland, Sweden. He attended school in Sweden.
On March 9, 1912, he came to the United States to the Harvard, NE area and lived there until April of 1918 when he entered the United States Army. During his time in the service, he was stationed at Camp Funston and later at Ft. Riley, KS. Following his discharge September 17, 1919, he came to Haxtun to farm with his uncle, Sander Stedt.
On April 12, 1936, he married Linnea Sandquist at the home of her parents in Holyoke. They made their home on a farm in the Fairfield community. Linnea passed away in August of 1940. Mr. Franson married Mae Skipworth in Holyoke on February 24, 1946. He continued to farm until 1959. In 1966 they retired to Holyoke.
Mr. Franson attended the Fairfield Covenant Church.
Survivors include his wife Mae Franson of Holyoke; his daughter Mrs. Harold [Astrid] Hadeen of Holyoke; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother Karl Franson of Sweden and one niece and one nephew in Sweden.
