CLAUS GLOY

Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, December 1, 1927

Claus Gloy was born in the town of Egstadt, Germany, April 4th, 1837, and came to America in 1870 from the Province, Schleswig, Holstein, county of Kirchspell-Suderhestet, locating first in Valpariso, Indiana. At that place in 1875 he was united in marriage to Antje Urbahns, residing there until 1882 when they moved to Shelton, Nebraska. They homesteaded in Perkins County in 1897. On account of ill health he was forced from place to place, making Ogallala, Nebraska his home until the death of his wife seven years ago when he came to Amherst Colorado to live with his daughter Mrs. A.F. Boehmer.

One daughter died in infancy. Those living to mourn his death of a beloved father are W.E. Gloy and B.F. Gloy of Grant, Nebraska, Mrs. A.F. Boehmer of Amherst, Colorado, and seven grandchildren and a host of friends.

Mr. Gloy endeared himself to many in this community during his residence here and will be sadly missed by all. He was raised a German Lutheran and still held to the creeds of his church up to the time of his death.

The funeral services were held at the St. Paul Lutheran church in Amherst and were conducted by Rev. Wilk. He was 90 years, 7 months and 21 days of age. Burial took place beside his wife in the Lutheran cemetery at Amherst.
