G. FRANK CONKLIN RITES HELD HERE
Funeral services for Frank Conklin of Glenwood Springs, native and longtime resident of Holyoke, were held February 22 at the Holyoke Lutheran church. Interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park, with military rites at the grave by the local VFW and American Legion posts.
Officiating at the funeral was Rev. Gerold L. Oldsen, pastor of the Glenwood Springs Lutheran church, assisted by Rev. James Pomeroy, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church of Holyoke.
Mr. Conklin, who was 42 years of age, died Sunday morning, February 19, 1967, at his home following a lengthy illness.
One of seven children of George and Rose [Stephens] Conklin, George Frank Conklin was born August 22, 1924, at Holyoke. With the exception of three years during which he served in the Navy during World War II, he made his home in Holyoke until moving to the Glenwood Springs area in 1964. He was employed by the Colorado Highway department there.
On April 21, 1946, he was united in marriage to Alice Marx of Dalton, Nebraska. Their son, Errol David, is 9 years of age.
Mr. Conklin became a member of the Lutheran church here shortly after his marriage and took an active part in church activities. After moving to Glenwood Springs, he transferred his membership to the Lutheran church there. He was also a former member of the Holyoke Veterans of Foreign Wars post, the Holyoke American Legion post and the Holyoke Volunteer Fire department.
Survivors include his wife, Alice, and son, Errol, already mentioned; his mother, Mrs. Rose Conklin, Holyoke; two brothers, Robert and Harvey Conklin, both of Holyoke; three sisters, Margaret, Mrs. Norman Beattie, Sterling, Ruth, Mrs. Larry Henderson, Fort Collins, and Dora, Mrs. Herman Tatum, Ovid; and many other relatives and friends.
His father and one brother, James, preceded him in death.
