HOLYOKE PIONEER DIES AT HAXTUN

 

George Donnelly Had Homesteaded Six Miles South Of Holyoke In the 80s

 

George Donnelly, former Holyoke pioneer, died Wednesday morning at Haxtun at the age of 80. Mr. Donnelly had been a resident of Haxtun for about ten years, having gone there after his return from Florida, where he had made his home for several years after leaving here about 1915.

 

Mr. Donnelly homesteaded six miles southwest of Holyoke, locating on his claim before the town of Holyoke was established. He still owned the farm which is located immediately south of the E.G. Summers farm.

 

Mr. Donnelly was married in 1913 and later moved from the homestead to Florida.

 

Among the survivors are four sisters, Mrs. Clara Finch, Mrs. Henry Stoud, Mrs. Tom Lane, Celeste Donnelly, all of Haxtun, and two brothers, Ed of Pueblo, and Joe, who lives in Oregon.
