FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR FIRST POLIO VICTIM

 

Ernest Aaron Burns, son of Ralph and Louisa Burns of Holyoke, was born at Lamar, Colorado, August 13, 1931 and departed from this world August 11, 1946 at 5:00 a.m., a victim of polio. Tuesday would have been his 15th birthday.

 

He received his elementary education in the rural schools of Yuma County and would have entered Holyoke High School in the fall.

 

At the age of 14 he dedicated his life to the Lord and was baptized at the conference of the Presbyterian Church.

 

Ernest was a loving boy with a will to work in any way to help his home and friends. He will be sadly missed by his family.

 

He leaves to mourn his loss his mother and father and one brother, Edward, Grandmother and Grandfather Burns, Grandmother and Grandfather Colvin and a host of relatives and friends.

 

Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday from the Presbyterian Church in Holyoke with burial in the Holyoke Cemetery.

 

Out-of-town relatives at the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Burns and son, Forrest, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Colvin of Wiley, Colorado, Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Roe, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Burns of Lamar, Colorado, Mr. and Mrs. E.V. Colvin of Gibson City, Illinois, and Mrs. Ira Anderson of Gardner, Illinois.
