MRS. EMMA BRANDT DIES AT LINCOLN
Mrs. Emma Brandt, a former resident of Holyoke, passed away last Thursday at her home in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was 78 years old. Although she had been in failing health for some time, death came unexpectedly.
Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at the Lutheran church in Lincoln. Graveside rites were conducted here Tuesday afternoon and interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park. Rev. R. Einspahr, pastor of the Holyoke Lutheran church, officiated.
As Emma Marie Lange, a daughter of Henry and Marie Furnhurst Lange, Mrs. Brandt was born June 10, 1877, at Malcolm, Nebraska. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church near Malcolm on July 22 of the same year and was
confirmed by Rev. Brakhage in 1890.
On November 28, 1901, she was united in marriage with William Conrad Brandt of Malcom, Nebraska. To this union seven children were born, two of whom preceded their mother in death.
The family farmed in the Malcolm community for some time then moved to Hereford, Colorado, and later to Holyoke, on March 1, 1924. Mr. Brandt passed away on September 19, 1928, and Mrs. Brandt moved to Lincoln to make her
home.
Surviving Mrs. Brandt are three son, Arthur Brandt, Holyoke, and Elmer and Enno Brandt, Lincoln, Nebraska; two daughters, Mrs. Annetta Nicolaus, York, Nebraska, and Mrs. Esther Wagner, Lincoln; one sister, Mrs. Ella Dumke; ten
grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Relatives from a distance who were here for the service Tuesday were Mr. and Mrs. Enno Brandt, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Wagner, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Brandt, and Mrs. Bertha Lange, all of Lincoln, and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Nicolaus of York, Nebraska.
