LAST RITES HELD FOR ELMER HANSEN

 

Funeral services were held Friday, February 20, 1970, from the United Methodist church for Elmer Broder Hansen, 73, a long time resident of Holyoke, who passed away at Melissa Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, February 17, 1970, following a heart attack complicated with pneumonia.

 

Rev. W.L. Youngblood, minister of the church, officiated at the service. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park. Arrangements were in charge of Thompson Mortuary.

 

Elmer Broder Hansen, son of Ole and Metha* Hansen, was born on December 31, 1896 at Neligh, Nebraska. He attended public schools in Nebraska and Colorado until 1913. He lived in Neligh and Brunswick, Nebraska until 1908 when he moved to Colorado with his family and resided on a farm northeast of Holyoke.

 

On June 2, 1929 he was married to Letta Kerchner at Holyoke, they were united in marriage by Harry T. Morris. To this union were born a son, Gordon and a daughter, Lorna.

 

He farmed until 1929, then worked for the Co-Op in Amherst and Holyoke. He served as Phillips County Deputy Sheriff. He served in World War I from September 4, 1918, until December 8, 1918.

 

His hobbies included baseball, hunting and fishing and he enjoyed life and its activities.  He was active in the Colorado Consistory Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Masons. Past Master, Holyoke Lodge 81 AF & AM, Holyoke Chapter 105, Order of the Eastern Star and Past Commander of American Legion Post 90.

 

He was preceded in death by his father and mother and a brother, Walter, who died in infancy.

 

He is survived by his wife, Letta, a son, Gordon K. Hansen, and a daughter, Mrs. Lorna L. Cline, both of Denver. Two sisters, Agnes Critchlow, Holyoke, and Malvina Krueger, Los Angeles, California, and many other relatives and friends.

Krueger, Los Angeles; Donald and Mary Lou Kerchner, Arvada; Mr. and Mrs. Willis Hargreaves and sons, Enterprise, Kansas; Wayne Hargreaves, Commerce City; Mrs. Dewey Lee and Evelyn, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Lee and Mr. and Mrs. Theron Lee of Madrid, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Lee, Ogallala, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lee, Grant, Nebraska; Linda Yost, Greeley; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cline, Gordon Hansen and Floyd Davis of Denver.
