Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 7, 1973, from the First Christian Church, Holyoke, for Edith Estell Summers Hargreaves, 82, who passed away November 4, at her home.
Rev. Rex Bell and Rev. Reuben Johnson officiated at the services. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park. Thomson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Edith Estell Summers Hargreaves was born on November 6, 1890, in Memphis, Missouri, to Elmer G. and Emily A. Summers. She was one of 12 children. In her early childhood the Summers family moved to Holyoke settling on a farm southwest of Holyoke on what is now the Harold Heimer farm.
She was united in marriage to Thomas Hill Hargreaves on December 25, 1910, and to this union six daughters, Anna Mae Kretzel, Casa Grande, Arizona; Catherine Austin Spelts, Stockton, California; Mildred Louise Adamson, Holyoke; Florence Irene Werner, Greeley; Margaret Marie Wright, Denver, and Dorothy Jean Lohman, Billings, Montana, were born.
She became a very faithful and active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was a member of Golden Age and Busy Fingers clubs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers, Raymond, Lester, William, Robert and an infant brother; a sister, Mildred, and three grandchildren.
Surviving brothers and sisters are Clay, Denver; Wilbur, Arapahoe; Mable Dann, Stamford, Connecticut; Bertha Fae Kosloff, Chicago, Illinois, and Zeta Christensen, Holyoke. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kritzel; Mr. and Mrs. William Spelts; Mr. and Mrs. Orville Werner; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wright; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Lohman; Mr. and Mrs. Clay Summers; Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Summers; Mable Dann; Mr. and Mrs Gary Wright; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Huebner; Mr. and Mrs Tim Ellis; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ellis; Mr. and Mrs. Gene Maize; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Taylor; Mrs. Carol Beach and Mrs. John Harker.
