AGED WOMAN PASSES AWAY
Final Rites Are Held at Amherst for Mrs. Anna Detmer
Final rites were conducted yesterday afternoon at Amherst for Mrs. Anna Detmer, 95, who died at 11:45 o’clock Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Sporl. Complications of advanced age were the cause of her death.
The service was conducted at the Lutheran Church at Amherst with the pastor, Rev. Harold Brauer, officiating. Burial was made in the Amherst Cemetery. Serving as the pallbearers were Herbert Brandt, Henry Schellenberg, W.E. Sanders and L.H. Cox of Holyoke, and William Bauer and Charles Helms of Amherst.
Out of town relatives in attendance at the final rites were Mr. and Mrs. George Helms of Fort Morgan, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Majots of Sterling, Kenneth Adkins of Estes Park, Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Adkins and children of Fleming, and Mrs. Valor Bennett and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Fellers of Julesburg.
Anna Gesina Lammers, daughter of Herman and Margareta Albers Lammers, was born October 27, 1845, at Rebshold, Ostfriesland, Germany. She was baptized in infancy and later was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in her native land. In the year of 1864, she came to the United States and located in Iowa. Later, she moved to Nokomis, Illinois where she was married to Frank Detmer, the ceremony having been performed January 29, 1874.
Mr. and Mrs. Detmer lived at Nokomis, Illinois 12 years, and then moved to Genoa, Nebraska where they made their home for a period of 33 years. In 1919 they and their children moved to Phillips County and located in Amherst. Following Mr. Detmer’s death in 1925, Mrs. Detmer continued to make her home in Amherst for three years. Since 1928, Mrs. Detmer has made her home with her son, Herman Detmer, and her daughter, Mrs. Sporl.
Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Sporl, Holyoke; four sons, William Detmer of Spokane, Washington, Frank Detmer of New Plymouth, Idaho, and John and Herman Detmer of Holyoke; 24 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

FRANK DETMER, SR., DIED AT AMHERST SUNDAY MORNING
Frank Detmer, Sr., died Sunday morning at his home in Amherst at the age of eighty-two years. Old age was the cause of his death after an illness of several months. He had made his home in Amherst since 1918, coming there from Genoa, Nebraska.
Mr. Detmer was born in Aurich, Germany, on October 4th, 1843, coming to America at the age of nineteen. He first made his home in Illinois, where he was married to Anna Lammers in 1874. They lived in that state for twelve years, when they moved to Genoa.
Mr. Detmer is survived by his wife, four sons and one daughter. William, John, Frank and Herman Detmer and Mrs. George Sporl. All surviving members of his family reside near Amherst with the exception of William, whose home is at Spokane, Washington. The children were all present at the funeral services, William arriving shortly after his father's death.
The funeral was held Tuesday at the Amherst Lutheran church. Rev. Otto Hoyer conducted the services, while the body was in charge of Colver Brothers. Interment was made in the Amherst Lutheran cemetery.
The high regard in which the deceased was held in the community was evidenced by the large number of friends present at the funeral services.
