Anna Mae Cunningham, the daughter of Charles and Sammie Cox Blount, was born February 16, 1907 in Ten Mile, Tennessee. She received her elementary and high school education in Tennessee.

 

 She married John O. "Dutch" Cunningham on October 15, 1924 in Spring City, Tennessee. After their marriage, they came to Colorado to the Haxtun area and lived on a farm southeast of Haxtun in the Highland Center Community. Along with their farming, they raised horses and many different kinds of animals including buffalo, elk, several varieties of deer and also llamas. Dutch passed away in 1979.

 

 Anna Mae continued to live on the farm until 1983 when she moved to Holyoke where she has continued to reside. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

 

She is survived by her sons Robert Cunningham and wife Charlotte of Sterling and Roger Cunningham of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughters Mae Ola Gibbs and husband LaVerne of Holyoke, Viola Lambert and husband Ralph of Lemon Grove, California, Frances Barnes of Sidney, Nebraska and Jean Briggs and husband Willard of Elizabeth; brothers Bob Blount and Charles Blount, both of Tennessee; sisters Norma Jean Fisher of Connecticut and Margaurite Clayton, Ruby Halloman and Sammie Elder, all of Tennessee; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dutch; three sisters; and two brothers. Anna Mae passed away Thursday, May 2, 1991 at Sterling Regional Medical Center in Sterling at the age of 84. Funeral services were held Monday, May 6, 1991 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Holyoke with Rev. Marvin Essing officiating, with the burial following in the Haxtun Cemetery.
