CLIFFORD GRAYEM, RESIDENT OF AREA MANY YEARS, DIES

 

Clifford A. Grayem, 67, who spent most of his life in this community, passed away Sunday, August 25, at Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke. He had been in failing health for several years.

 

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. yesterday, August 28, at the Holyoke Christian church. Donald Gordon was the officiating minister and the Lewis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park.

 

A son of William Arthur Grayem and Lana M. Fuqua Grayem, Clifford Arthur Grayem was born July 10, 1901 at Holdrege, Nebraska. When he was 6 years of age, he moved with his parents to a homestead south of Holyoke, where he grew to manhood.

 

When Mr. Grayem was a young man, he and his father, William A. Grayem, and his grandfather, Isaac Grayem, operated a dray line in Holyoke for several years.

 

On April 22, 1922, he was united in marriage to Mabel Ella Green at Wray. They lived at Proctor, Colorado for a time and then returned to this community and spent the remainder of their lives farming and raising cattle south of Holyoke.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Grayem were the parents of four children, all of whom survive. Mrs. Grayem passed away October 19, 1965.

 

Surviving Mr. Grayem are two sons, Melvin, Ashland, Kentucky, and Glenn, Holyoke; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Geis, Golden, Colorado and Mrs. Verna Loeser, Verndale, Minnesota; one sister, Mrs. Verna Peterson, Kearney, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; two nephews; and other relatives and many friends.
