ANNA  M. (ARNOLD) CHANDLER

Anna Myrtle Chandler was born January 8, 1895 in her parent’s home near Lamar, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Frank and Kate Arnold. The Arnold family circle was comprised of six brothers and five sisters. Ann lived at home until she reached the age of twenty-three years. As a young school teacher in Chase County, Nebraska, she met and became the bride of a young farmer by the name of Lee Chandler, of Holyoke. Lee and Anna were married March 11, 1917. To this union nine children were born.

 

Preceding her in death were her husband, Lee Chandler; two infant sons, Royal and Donald; one son, Max Bruce Chandler; her parents, Frank and Kate Arnold; brothers Frank Arnold, George Arnold, Bert Arnold, and Jerry Arnold; sisters, Stella Dowling, Justine Myers, Elizabeth Lock and Ada Myers.

 

Following a lingering illness and hospitalization at the Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke, on May 13, Mrs. Chandler entered the Rocky Mountain Osteopathic Hospital in Denver for surgery. There she remained for thirteen days until the time of her death. Her children were with her during this period and they remain to mourn her passing. They include four sons, Dale of Hammond, Indiana, Nyle of Concord, California, Ward and Calvin of Holyoke; two daughters, Dola, Mrs. Corwin A. Wood, of Gulport, Mississippi and Shirley, Mrs. Clarence Kroeger of Holyoke. Eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren also survive and will mourn her passing, but they will keep her memory alive each time they meet. In addition to her immediate family, Anna Chandler will be also missed by her many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

 

Anna Chandler was an active member and participant of First Christian Church of Holyoke, the Navy Mother’s Club, the Amity Club, and the Holyoke Historical Society.  A memorial has been established in the name of Anna M. Chandler for the First Christian Church of Holyoke.

 

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Chandler at First Christian Church on May 28, 1982. James R. Mort, minister of the church officiated at the services, Evelyn Keasling was the organist and Velva Heimer and Bette McCormick were the singers. Interment was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery south west of Holyoke. Thompson Mortuary of Holyoke was in charge of arrangements.

 

 

 

BRENDA CHANDLER (INFANT)

CHANDLER RITES

 

Memorial services for Brenda Chandler, 6-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Chandler of Holyoke, were held Sunday afternoon at the Holyoke Methodist church. Burial was in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Rev. H.R. Bauer conducted the service. The baby died Friday morning at the Chandler home here. The Lewis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements

 

 

 

DALE CHANDLER

 

 

Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, October 24, 1985

 

Funeral services for Dale Chandler, 65, will be conducted Thursday morning, October 24 at the First Christian Church in Holyoke, with Jim Mort officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Chandler died October 20 in Hammond, Indiana. He is formerly of the Pleasant Valley community in Phillips County. He is a brother of Ward Chandler, Calvin Chandler and Shirley Kroeger of this area.

 

Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, Colorado, October 31, 1985

Dale E. Chandler of Hammond, Indiana, passed away Sunday, October 20, 1985 at the age of 65 years.  Dale was born December 12, 1919 near Lamar, Nebraska. He attended school in this area and graduated from Chase County High School at Imperial, Nebraska. He then attended Chanute College in Kansas. Dale enlisted in the Army Air Corps and during World War II he served in the South Pacific for 4 1/2 years.  Dale and his family made their home in the Chicago area when Dale worked for the Ford Motor Company, from which he retired after 25 years of service.

 

Dale E. Chandler is survived by his wife Annabel; one son Wayne of Wyoming, Michigan; four grandchildren; three brothers, Ward and Calvin of Holyoke, Nyle of Concord, California; two sisters, Dola Wood of Gulfport, Mississippi and Shirley Kroeger of Holyoke; several nieces and nephews.  Dale attended the First United Methodist Church of Hammond, Indiana. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Illinois as well as a World War II veteran.

 

Memorial services were conducted in Hammond Tuesday, October 22. Funeral services were conducted October 24 at the First Christian Church in Holyoke with Jim Mort  officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery with Thompson Mortuary of Holyoke in charge of arrangements.

 

 

LEE CHANDLER

 

 

Holyoke Enterprise, Holyoke, CO, April 18, 1974

 

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 13, 1974, from the United Methodist Church, Holyoke, for Lee Chandler, 79, who passed away April 10, at Melissa Memorial Hospital. Rev. Evan Brian officiated at the services. Interment was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

 

Lee Chandler was born July 5, 1894 near Lake City, Iowa. In 1910, at the age of 16, he came to Phillips County, where they made their home on a homestead 20 miles southeast of Holyoke. He resided here most of his life, except for a few years spent in Chase County, Nebraska. For the past two years he and his wife resided in an apartment at the Burge Hotel in Holyoke. March 11, 1917 he was united in marriage to Anna Arnold of Lamar, Nebraska and to this union nine children were born.  Lee and Anna celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on March 11, 1974.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Effie Chandler; a brother, Ray; a sister, Mrs. John [Lela] Vandre, and two infant sons, Royal and Donald. He is survived by his wife, Anna; five sons, Dale, Chicago, IL, Nyle, Concord, CA, Ward, Max and Calvin, Holyoke; two daughters, Mrs. Corwin [Dola] Wood, Gulfport, MS, and Mrs. Clarence [Shirley] Kroeger, Holyoke; 17 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; nephews; nieces and other relatives and friends.

 

 

 

MAX B. CHANDLER

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 9, 1980, at the First Christian Church in Holyoke for Max B. Chandler, 52, who passed away Wednesday, August 6. James Mort, minister of the church, officiated at the services. Interment was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Holyoke, Colorado.

 

Max Bruch Chandler was born near Holyoke, Colorado August 6, 1928, the son of Lee and Anna Chandler. Except for the time spent in the armed services and a few years as owner/operator of the

Chandler Transport Trucking while living in Fleming, Colorado, he has spent his entire life on his grandfather A.F. Chandler's homestead southeast of Holyoke.

 

He has farmed with his brothers Ward and Calvin since the farm came under irrigation. Max was a loving son and brother. He leaves to mourn his loss his mother Anna Chandler of Holyoke; four brothers, Dale of Steger, Illinois, Nyle of Concord, California, Ward and Calvin of Holyoke; two sisters, Dola Woods of Gulfport, Mississippi, and Shirley Kroeger of Holyoke; 17 nieces and nephews, many grand nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his father Lee Chandler in 1974 and two infant brothers.
