Chad William Harvey was born in Holyoke on Easter Sunday, March 30, 1975. At the young age of 20 years, his life was suddenly snuffed out early Saturday morning, September 23, 1995 at a residence in Holyoke.
Chad, the only son of Charles and Caryl Harvey, has two older sisters, Shawna and Rochelle, and a younger sister, Sarah. He grew up as a typical happy-go-lucky child and attended the Assembly of God Church with his family.
As Chad got older, he developed into a "free-spirited" young man, and often wanted to set his own goals and standards, and not mold to what teachers and family wanted or expected. He had a natural talent for music and enjoyed his music to the fullest. He liked to play his guitar and sing and has sung at various community functions alone and with his family.
He loved his nieces and nephew; when he was home he would be found playing with them. The last memory the family has of Chad was seeing him singing songs for three little ones that he loved so much. Chad loved his family and never left his parents without giving them a hug and telling them he loved them.
Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Henry and Clara Harvey.
Survivors include his parents Charles and Caryl Harvey, sisters Shawna and husband John Durbin, Rochelle and husband Scott Tyndal and Sarah, all of Holyoke; beloved nieces and nephew Ashley and Dustin Tyndal and Alyshia, Brittany and Christa Durbin; maternal grandparents Vernon A. and Betty M. Perry of Arvada; uncles Darrel Harvey and wife Jody of Dacona and Robert Perry of Arvada; great aunts Grace Blanke and Esther Harvey of Holyoke, Ardith Wallin and Eva Harvey of Champion, Nebraska, Eva Ranson of Brigham City, Utah and Viola Cornell of Salinas, California and many other cousins and friends.
Services were set for Wednesday, September 27, 1995 at 10 a.m. in Holyoke Assembly of God Church with Pastor Jim Crist officiating. Interment was to follow at Holyoke Memorial Park.
Contributions may be made to the Chad Harvey Memorial Fund at First Pioneer National Bank of Holyoke.
Arrangements were under the direction of Schmidt-Baucke Mortuaries, Inc. of Holyoke.
