CONSTAN CARLSON BURIED WEDNESDAY; PNEUMONIA VICTIM

Constan Carlson died early Tuesday morning from pneumonia and exposure. The deceased had been living alone in a small house in the west part of town. Relatives of Mr. Carlson made it a point to call frequently at his home due to the fact that he had been in poor health for some time.  When one of them called at his home Monday evening and was unable to find him in the house he carried his search further and found the aged man lying unconscious in the doorway of a small cellar on the north side of the house.

Dr. J.W. Kinzie was called and stimulants were administered in an effort to restore consciousness. Mr. Carlson died early the next morning.  It was thought he had fallen while going into the cellar, striking his head on some hard object which stunned him. It was estimated that he had been in the cellar doorway almost 48 hours.

Funeral services were held from the Radford Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon. Burial was in the Haxtun cemetery.  The Rev. I.C. Snavely preached the funeral sermon, reading the following obituary:

Constan Carlson was born at Calmar Lane, Visirium, Sweden, November 25, 1865, and died October 10, 1932 at Haxtun, Colorado, following an illness of a few days.  In the year 1880 he came to the United States and made his first home at Varna, Illinois, later moving to Bertrand, Nebraska. In the year 1910 he moved to Haxtun, where he has since made his home.

Mr. Carlson was confirmed in the Swedish church while in Sweden.
