BERTHA FERGUSON RITES AT HAXTUN

 

Last rites for Mrs. Bertha Ferguson*, a longtime resident of the Haxtun community, were held last Thursday afternoon at the Radford Funeral Home in Haxtun, with Rev. Willis Phelps in charge.

 

Mrs. Ferguson, who was 83 years of age, passed away Monday of last week at the Haxtun hospital following an extended illness. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park.

 

Mrs. Ferguson was born January 27, 1874 at Springhill, Iowa. She moved to Ovid with her parents in 1885 and to the Haxtun community in 1889. She was a member of the Methodist church.

 

She was united in marriage to Cyrus Haynes at Julesburg in November 1889. Mr. Haynes passed away in 1906. In 1908 she was married at Florence, Colorado to Robert Ferguson, who died in 1946.

 

Surviving Mrs. Ferguson are two daughters, Mrs. Essie Artman, Dailey, and Mrs. Faye Ahnstedt, Haxtun; three sons, Clyde Haynes, Dailey, and Paul and Arlo Haynes, both of Haxtun; 20 grandchildren, and 32 great grandchildren.
