RITES HELD FRIDAY FOR ASHER HESTER

 

Last rites for Asher Hester, 78, former Holyoke merchant, were held Friday afternoon at the Holyoke Baptist church, with Rev. Alvah C. Lynch officiating. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park.

 

Mr. Hester died last Wednesday, October 17, at a hospital in Pueblo, where he had been a patient for some time. He had been in poor health for the past year.

 

Asher Alvin Hester, a son of Robert and Mary Hester, was born July 28, 1878, at Oregon, Missouri. He came to Holyoke in 1918 and operated a store here for 28 years. He was a member of the Christian church and the Masonic lodge.

 

In 1921, Mr. Hester was united in marriage to Mrs. Ada Gileece, who survives. Other survivors include one brother, John Hester, Maryville, Missouri; two sisters, Mrs. Altha Uphouse and Mrs. Oda Woodward, both of Benkelman, Nebraska and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

 

Preceding Mr. Hester in death was his only child, Marguerite, by a former marriage.
