ELFELDT FUNERAL IS HELD AT PAOLI
Wife Of Retired Methodist Minister Dies At Her Home
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday afternoon at Paoli for Mrs. H.C. Elfeldt, 72, who died Friday at her home at Paoli. The final rites were held at the Paoli Methodist church with the pastor, Rev. F.A. Napier, in charge. The funeral address was given by Rev. Samuel Beechner of Exeter, Nebraska. Burial was made in the Holyoke cemetery.
Mrs. Annie Dietz Elfeldt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dietz, was born April 1, 1862 at LaPorte, Indiana. Following the Civil War in which her father served, the family moved to Lancaster County in Nebraska. They settled on a farm near Firth, Nebraska in 1868. She was united in marriage to H.C. Elfeldt, a pioneer preacher of the then West German Conference of the Methodist church. Rev. Elfeldt is now a retired minister of the Colorado Conference of the Methodist church.
For 42 years, Mrs. Elfeldt shared in the active minister's works. She had an active part in her husband's work in the building of 13 churches and parsonages in Nebraska, Kansas and Colorado.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Miss Myrtle Elfeldt and Mrs. Lillian Lohn, both of Paoli; one grandson; one sister; three brothers, and many other relatives and friends.
A large delegation of Holyoke people attended the funeral service. Mrs. A.W. McFadden sang two vocal numbers, "Opening the Gates of the Temple" and "Crossing the Bar," with Mrs. A.H. Beal playing the accompaniments. The processional and recessional numbers were also played by Mrs. Beal.
