AMHERST PIONEER IS CALLED BY DEATH

 

L.W. Aird Succumbs, Had Been In Poor Health For Several Years  Funeral services were held Wednesday from the Amherst Lutheran Church for Lewis Wesley Aird, who died early Monday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A.S. Landreth, in the Amherst community.

 

Mr. Aird was nearly 81 years of age, having been born at Wyoming, New York on, August 17, 1851. He came here with his family in the spring of 1910, and was well known in the eastern part of Phillips County.

 

 Several years ago he became seriously ill with diabetes and a leg was amputated in order to save his life. Since that time he had been in poor health, although he had not been confined to his bed until the last few weeks.

 

Mr. Aird is survived by a large number of relatives. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.W. Wilk, pastor of the Lutheran Church and burial was made in the Amherst Cemetery.
