August 29, 1900 Silver Cliff "Died, on Thursday afternoon last,
at her home in this city, after an illness of but a few days, Mary Hunt,
beloved wife of John Hunt, at the age of 39 years past.
Deceased had resided in this county for many years, since childhood, coming
here with her parents in '78 and living here continuously, with perhaps the
exception of a few years when her parents made Salida their home,
and a short while on her return to Custer county at Westcliffe.
Mrs. Hunt was a lady of very quiet life, sacrificing to a large extent
society friendships, and finding comfort and enjoyment in her own family and
home. Every acquaintance, and she had many, was her friend and admired her
for her ever pleasant and amiable disposition. She was a member of the
United Modern fraternity.
Besides the husband, she leaves four small children, two boys and two girls,
and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Johnson, to mourn her absence.
Impressive funeral services, conducted by Rev. J. W. Jackson,
were held at the Presbyterian church on Friday at 2 p. m., and were largely
attended. The burial took place in the Silver Cliff cemetery.
The sorrow stricken family and relatives have the sympathy of the entire
community."

October 18, 1905 Denver "A sorrowing concourse of friends and relatives
followed the remains of Mrs. William H. Rothwell to Fairmount yesterday
afternoon. The little town of Hugo, in eastern Colorado, practically emptied
itself into Denver to attend the funeral, so deep was the grief everybody felt
over the loss of their former town's daughter, and so heartfelt their
sympathy for Mr. and Mrs. John P. Dickinson of Hugo, parents of the deceased.
A huge floral offering with the simple Inscription 'Hugo' worked in
immortelles across its face voiced to a slight extent the sorrow of the
people who knew Mrs. Rothwell in her girlhood days.
Services were held at St. Leo's church by Rev. Father Ryan, where the
many friends of both the Rothwell and the Dickinson families gathered at
2 p. m. The floral tokens that covered the bier were many and elaborate.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: A. McKenzie,
Charles Norman, C. J. Clayton, Dr. C. E. Cooper, Arthur C. Johnson
and H. C. White."
