Attended a rural school east of Huntley, graduated from Huntley high school, 1930
Worked at Petery's Cafe‚ in Alma, 1930-1932; attended North Central College in Napierville, Ill. for two years.
Married: July 10, 1934 to Paul Haeker in Sheridan, Ill. He died Oct. 4, 1992.
Lived in Alma; owned and operated the Parrot Theater until they retired in 1986.
Traveled extensively since 1976, visited all 50 states and 110 foreign countries.
Moved to the Regency Retirement Center in Kearney, 1992; she had been a resident at Mother Hull Home in Kearney since Nov. 14, 2001.
Activities: had been active members of Peace Lutheran Church in Alma, transferred membership to First Lutheran Church in Kearney after moving there; member of Ladies Aid at Peace Lutheran Church; had also been a member of the Farmerette Club and the Alma Women's Club of Alma; was very involved in getting the new hospital built in Alma.
Survivors include: sons, Dale of Bellingham, Wash., Dean of Kearney and Howard of Kansas City, MO.; brother, Amin Remke of Aurora, Colo.; and sister, Ruth Bruns of Alamosa, Colo.; also daughter-in-law, Susan of Kearney; sister-in-law, Maryon Remke of Aurora; grandchildren, Amy Lundgren and husband, George, of Yankton, S.D., Penny and husband, Chase Brown, of Sioux City, S.D., David of Kansas City, Mo., Mona of Coralville, Iowa and Eric of Philadelphia; other relatives; and many friends.
Was preceded in death by her husband, her father on Aug. 24, 1974; her mother on Jan. 9, 1984; daughter-in-law, Laurel; brother, Marvin Remke; sister, Mildred Eichholtz; and many extended family members.

1969 Pasco Washington

Mrs. Dora Mitchell, 95 on Tuesday, shared her birthday celebration and cake with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. C. L. Mitchell, who has the same birth date, at a party at Visa Vistavue Home where she now resides. She was born March 18, 1874, in Chesterfield County, Ill., and when a child came to Nebraska by covered wagon. She married Adolph C. Mitchell Feb. 15, 1896, at Huntley, Neb., and in December, 1902, they left Huntley for Newport. They farmed at Diamond Lake  for more than 25 years, then at Half Moon Prairie near Deer Lake, until retirement when they moved to Spokane. After her husband's death in 1955, Mrs. Mitchell moved to Richland to be with her sons, Clarence E. and Arthur F., General Electric Co. retirees. Family members, friends at Vistavue, and the nursing staff joined in the celebration. Greetings also came from her daughter, Mrs. Elsa Kisu , Sacramento; her sisters, Mrs. Elna Becker, 86, Huntley, and Mrs. Anna Marks, 83, Denver; from a brother, George Remke, 85, Alma, Neb., and from nine grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren.

June 10, 2010:   Maryon Irene Wallraff was born to Albert John and Jennie Irene (Caffee) Wallraff on July 23, 1922 in Denver, CO. She graduated from South High School June 7, 1940. She met Armin George Remke of Huntley, Nebraska while singing in the choir at Evanston Evangelical United Brethren Church and were married March 9, 1941 and settled on Gilpin Street in south Denver. They moved to Amarillo, Texas for 20 years before returning to Colorado in 1969.
Maryon was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Every community she was in, Maryon was an active member of her church, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, serving as Director Of Christian Education, President of the Presbyterian Women's Association and as an Elder of the church. She was instrumental in the founding of The Evangelical Presbyterian Church which now boasts churches throughout the United States, including her home church, Faith Presbyterian of Aurora, Colorado. Maryon has always been known for her love, generosity, service to others, and warm hospitality. Maryon is survived by her husband of 69 years, Armin George Remke, her son Richard Remke and his wife Patricia of Little Rock, Arkansas; her daughter Marcia Graves and her husband David of Houston, Texas; her daughter Cheryl Nelson and her husband Larry of St. Louis, Missouri; and her son David Remke and his wife Marty of Englewood, Colorado; nine grandchildren: Lynne (Tom) Schott, Shannon (Darren) Copeland; Julie Graves, Jason (Stephanie) Graves; Brett, Brady, and Kristin Nelson; Sarah and Michael Remke. Her great-grandchildren are Sophie, Rawley and Abigail Schott; Zach and Alex Graves; and Ava and Chloe Copeland.
