1946 "ANAMOSA, Iowa—Earl "Bud" Dirks, 25, charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of George Leaper, 60, ^"lived preliminary hearing Tuesday and was held to the Jones county grand jury under $2,000 bond, which was furnished. Leaper died in an Iowa City hospital Sunday of injuries allegedly suffered in a fight with Dirks on the night of June 15."

FRED - probably not related

Fred C. Remington proved up two quarters in 31, 2N 51W (Washington County, about 20 miles south) in 1913.  This is probably from a Remington family in Pottawattomie County, Iowa.
