J. Paul Moritz is in Lancaster County, Nebraska in 1900, born January 1849 in Germany, farming, immigrating in 1883, married 14 years to Christina, August 1859 Russia.  They have Ida July1888 Colorado, Bertha Oct 1890 Colorado, Clara Feb 1893 Colorado, Rosa Oct 1894 Nebraska, and Gottlib Sept 1896 Nebraska.

In 1910 Lancaster County, Paul is farming, 23, married to Christina 23, both born in Germany.  Ida 19 and Clara 16 were both born in Colorado, Rosa 15, Philip 13, both born in Nebraska, and Elizabeth Roth, Christina's mother, widowed, 84, born in Germany.

In 1920 Lancaster County Paul is 69, born in Bavaria, immigrating in 1883, naturalized in 1893.  Christina is 60, born in Russia, immigrating in 1886, naturalized in 1896.  Son Gottlieb, 23, born in Nebraska, is farming with them.  Michael Ellinger, nephew, 29, born in Bavaria - so he's probably Paul's nephew - immigrating in 1914.

Paul and Christine are alone in 1930 Lincoln, living on M Street.

Paul J. Moritz 1850-1931 and Christina 1860-1939 are buried in Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln, Nebraska.-  So is Gottlieb 1896-1935 and his wife Mabel B. 1901-1998.

February 18, 1931 "  Will Probated  the will of Paul Moritz petition filed Tuesday in   County court A life estate   left practically all of the community to the widow, Christine, and  property is then to be divided equally among the following children Ida Asmus of Dorchester,   Mrs. Bertha Elizabeth Whited of Raymond, Cora Pauline Hagensick of  O'Neill, Rosina Bowers of Havelock and Gottlieb Moritz of Raymond". 

Mrs. Christina Moritz, 79, a resident of the city for 16 years, died at 5:20 o’clock Friday morning at her home, 4212 M street. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Ida Asmus of Friend, Mrs. Bertha Whited of Bennet, Mrs. Clara Hagensick of O’Neill, and Mrs. Rose Bauer of Lincoln; two brothers, William Roth of Warden, Wash., and Peter Roth of Lincoln; 24 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.  Lincoln Star 1939.

William Roth, 49, widowed, is in Grant County Washington, in 1910, with son William, Jr. 25 and his wife Alvina, 19.   He's married to Johanna, 50 in 1920, immigrating in 1887, naturalized in 1905.  Johanna's kids Pauline Scheel 14 and Adolph Scheel 11, both born in South Dakota, are with them.

Alwena Roth is widowed in 1920 Grant County, 28, with daughters Emma 9, Edna 3, and Elma 1.

Wilhelm 1885-1918 # 14813030 and Alwina 1891-1967 are buried in Warden.  So is Wilhelm Roth Sr. 1861-1955, Katherine 1861-1909 and   and son Emanuel 19090-1909

In 1930 Holt County, Nebraska, Elmer T. Hagensick is 41, born in Nebraska, Clara P. 37 Colorado, with Helen M. 6 and Della R. 4 both born in Nebraska.

W. Hagensick. Mr. Hagensick came to Holt county In 1882. In the narrative of his experiences he says: "I and a dozen of my neighbors were  right In the blizzard of 1888. We were crossing a  school section. Our coats were off as the day was like summer. A Jackrabbit jumped, and I called to my companions to kill It. A man threw an empty bottle at It. He missed it, and I raised a gun. The shot was not fired because the storm let loose. "You remember Barrett Scott,  Holt county treasurer, accused of absconding with $100.000 and hung by vigilantes, the body thrown It the Niobrara river, a. story that front paged every paper on this continent for years? Well, I was his favorite blacksmith. 1 knew Doc Middleton and Kid Wade.  I talked to Wade in Niobrara after the vigilantes brought him from LeMars , Ia.   He was young, nice looking, clean and mannerly  During a Sioux scare, Mr. Hagensick's neighbors went to town.  he said he determined to get a few of them while they were bagging him.  The Sioux failed to cross the Niobrara.  A light earth shock was said   to have been Interpreted by the Sioux as "bad medicine by heap-too mighty-fisted Irlshers of In and around O'Neill." Mr. Hagensick owns one of the most modern machine shops In Nebraska. Farmers congregate there to swap experience, stories. Mr. Hagensick Is just as active now as he was the day he picked up a hammer and listened to the seductive peal of his first tap on an anvil, he says. He Is married and the father of four children, a girl and three boys

Whited - Lawrence, Lincoln, 86, died Monday (12/3/2001) in Plattsmouth. Born, rural Davey (3/10/1915) to Harry and Bertha (Moritz). Member, Hickman Lodge 256 AF&AM, 50 years; Loyal Order of Moose, played banjo for 70 years.
Survivors: wife, Pauline; sons, daughters-in-law, Dean A. and Sandra, Lawrence E. Jr. and Carol; sister, Doris Underwood; brother, Harry; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Ralph, Leslie and Richard.

Gottlieb P. Moritz, 38, farmer who lived 12 miles northwest of Lincoln, died at his home at 12:10 o’clock Wednesday morning, following an illness of several years. He had lived near Lincoln all his life. Surviving Mr.  Moritz are his wife, Mabel; one daughter, Verna, and one son, Francis, all at home; his mother Mrs. Christina Moritz of Lincoln; and four sisters, Mrs. John Asmus of Dorchester, Mrs. Bertha Whited of Palmyra. Mrs. Alma Hagensick of O’Neill and Mrs. John Bauer of   Lincoln, The body is at Splain, Schnell& Griffiths.  Lincoln Star July 31, 1935.

One tree said Ida Moritz was born July 14, 1889 at Leroy, Colorado, married Johannes Asmus 1877-1960.  It said Ida died Dec 27, 1980 in Waverly Iowa.

JOHN BAUER WILL FILED # Property Given to Wife and J. Children--Some of It . in Trust: ' Petition for probate of the will of John Bauer was filed in the county court Thursday by Paul K. H. Bauer, a BOD. The will appoints the Lincoln Trust company to have charge of certain property in the city for ten years and provides that every three months the income from this property shall be paid one fourth to the -widow, Mary Bauer, and the other three fourths distributed to the children John A. Bauer, Gertrude Moser, Paul H. K. Bauer, Rosina Guttler, share and share alike. At the end of ten years the property may be sold if it  is seen fit and the distribution made on the same basis of as above. It is provided that John A Bauer, a. son, shall have ten acres in Lancaster county, Paul K. twelve acres. Gertrude Moser, fifteen acres, Rosina Cuttler of Salt Lake City," fifteen acres, the widow, twenty-eight acres. The land to the son John is a life estate to be given to his children, at his death and the widow's share is to be given," ,to Louise Bauer, Josephine Bauer' and Ruth Bauer at the expiration of her life. A quarter section of land in Lancaster county and a quarter in Oklahoma, is to be given, subject to the homestead right of Mrs. Bauer one fourth to her and the other three fourth to the children. One year after her death, the land may be sold and the amount used to pay off some incumberance on some Lincoln property and if this is insufficient, his property in Estes park-is to be sold for this purpose. lt"ia provided that all of his bank stock shall be given one fourth to the widow and three fourths to John Bauer, Gertrude Moser, and Roflina Cuttler. One fourth of all other property is to be given to the widow and the three fourths to John A. Bauer, Gertrude Moser, Paul K. H. Bauer and Rosina Cuttier.

In 1940  Lincoln John Adam Bauer is 49, Rosa 45, with Darlene 22, Lillian 16, and JoAnn 11.

1965 Lakewood, Colo. — Mr. and Mrs. John A. Bauer, formerly of Lincoln, will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary with an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. next Sunday in their home at 10920 Linda Vista Dr. The Bauers were married Dec. 26, 1915, in Davey, Neb. In 1918 they moved to Lincoln, Neb., where they lived until 1961 when they moved to Lakewood. The couple has three daughters, Mmes. Darlene Campbell of Broken Bow, Neb.; Joan Lipps of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Lillian Prisner. They have seven grandchildren.

1949 Miss Lillian Elizabeth Bauer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Bauer, became the bride of Stanley W. Prisner, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Prisner of Denver. May 15 at 4 o'clock in the afternoon in Park Hill Methodist church in Denver. Rev Allan K. Williams performed the ceremony in a setting of white flowers lighted by candelabra. Given in marriage by her lather, the bride wore a gown of white satin fashioned with a peplum of white lace. Her fingertip veil of bridal illusion was held with a tiara of satin and seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of white roses with lilies of the valley on white satin streamers. Mrs. Darlene Campbell of

1949 Mr. and Mrs. John A. Bauer announce the engagement and approaching: marriage of their daughter. Joan Annette, to Roy C. Lipps, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas C. Lipps of Tekamah. The wedding will be an event of August. Miss Bauer attended Dickenson's Secretarial school and is employed at the state house. Mr. Lipps is a graduate of the University of Nebraska and is doing post graduate work there.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, for Roy C. Lipps, 89, of North Fort Myers, Fla. He died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at his home. Services were held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in North Fort Myers with Pastor Jerry Lawson officiating.  Roy was born in Sterling, Neb., on November 10, 1923, and moved to Tekamah, Neb., with his family in 1937. He was a 1941 graduate of Tekamah High School and attended Midland College in Fremont, Neb., for two years before graduating from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a BA degree in biology, MS in agronomy and a PhD in chemistry. He served in the United States Navy for three years as a sonar man aboard the USS Hailey, a Fletcher class destroyer patrolling much of the south Pacific during World War II.  Roy worked as a Market Development representative for the United States Steel Corporation for over 30 years.  Preceding him in death were his wife, Joan in 1993; second wife, Ann in 2011; parents, Thomas and Mathilda Lipps; older brothers, Paul Lipps of Hay Springs, Neb., and Lorin Lipps of Tekamah.  He is survived by his brother, Wayne, of Tekamah; daughters, Judyth (Ken) Heuer of Dorsey, Ill., and Barbara Everroad of Columbus, Ind.; son, Grant (Debi) Lipps of Cape Coral, Fla.; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Metrick,. Blaine Bilyeu, Jason Everroad, Thomas Lipps; and great-granddaughter, Ingria Bilyeu. 

 

Paul Moritz Asmus, age 99, of Webster City and formerly of Waverly, died Monday, August 25, 2014, at Crestview Care and Rehabilitation Center in Webster City. Paul was born on April 6, 1915, in Friend, Nebraska, the son of John and Ida (Moritz) Asmus. He was baptized and confirmed in the German Congregational Church in Friend. He graduated from Dorchester High School in 1933. Paul started farming in Nebraska following his graduation from high school and was also an early salesman for Garst hybrid seed corn. He was united in marriage to Lillie May Huegel on October 30th, 1938, in Dorchester, Nebraska. In 1944, the couple moved to Janesville, Iowa, and in 1951, they moved to their present farm north of Waverly, Iowa. Paul was a resident of Crestview Senior Living in Webster City for the past nine years. Paul enjoyed gardening, singing, John Deere tractors, and his family. Paul and Lillie were known for sharing their abundance of asparagus, sweet corn, and melons from their garden. Paul was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock, Iowa. Paul's memory is honored by: a son, Everett (Sheryl) Asmus of Webster City, Iowa; six grandchildren, Michael (Jenny) Asmus of Madison, Wisconsin, Kirsten Asmus of Brandford, Connecticut, Jeannette (Tim) Hodges of Charlotte, North Carolina, Brian (Carla) Asmus of Omaha, Nebraska, Jill (Michael) Schumacher of Omaha, Nebraska, and Todd (Therese) Asmus of Chisago City, Minnesota; five step-grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, Natalie, John, Katelyn, Dylan, Ethan, Noah, Isabella, and Amayah Asmus, Luke, James, and Henry Schumacher, and Samuel Hodges; one brother, Karl Asmus of Waverly, Iowa; a sister, Ruth Tellin of Clinton, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Goldie Asmus of Osceola, Iowa; and a daughter-in-law, Donna Asmus of Winston Salem, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Lillie on December 19, 2002; a son, Larry Asmus; two sisters, Marie Swanson and Margaret Murray; and three brothers, John, August, and Ernest Asmus. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 30 at Faith Lutheran Church in Shell Rock. Burial will follow the service at Harlington Cemetery in Waverly.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl, of Cedar Falls; his daughter, Toni (Eldon) Wunder, of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren, Emilie Wunder of Cedar Falls and Matthew (Charlotte) Asmus of Houston, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Camille, Celeste and August Asmus; three brothers, Paul Asmus of Webster City, Iowa, Ernest (Arlene) Asmus of Boise, Idaho and Karl (Jan) Asmus of Waverly, Iowa; one sister, Ruth Tellin of Clinton, Iowa; and one sister in law, Goldie Asmus, of Osceola, Iowa.

August was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife; one daughter, Mary Jean Asmus; one son, John LeRoy Asmus; two sisters, Marie Swanson and Margaret Murray; and one brother, John Asmus.

Bertha Elizabeth Whited, born July 17, 1891 in Colorado, father Moritz, mother Roth, died July 11, 1980 in Los Angeles.

Bertha Moritz, daughter of Paul Moritz and Christina Roth, married H.E. Whited May 14, 1909 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

1935 Lincoln "Henry C. Whited, 46, a resident of Palmyra, died at a local hospital at 4 o’clock Thursday morning. He is survived by his wife,   Mrs. Bertha Whited; a daughter,  Doris of Palmyra; and five sons,  Ralph, Laurence, Leslie, Richard I and Harry, Jr.,  at home; a  brother, William of Kansas City. Mo.; and a sister, Mrs. Lewis iPump of Bennet, The body is at  Splain, Scimeli and Griffiths"

1940  Lincoln At a simple ceremony performed Sept. 1   at Trinity Lutheran church of Walton. Miss Alma Schmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Schmidt, became the bride of Richard Whited, son of Mrs. Bertha Whited. Rev R. Staehr read the marriage lines.

Peter Roth proved up a quarter in 23, 6N 50W in 1894, the same month as Elizabeth Roth and Johann Moritz.

Probably the Peter Roth in 1900 Lancaster County born April 1868 in Russia, married six years to Kattie Dec 1871 Germany, with Lena July 1895 and Andrew July 1899, both in Nebraska, is Christina's brother - on the same ship leaving Hamburg in May 1886.  Peter Roth married Cathierine Matie October 4, 1894 in Lancaster County.

Peter and Katie are farming in Washington County, Kansas in 1910.  Peter is 44, Katie  39, born in Bohemia.  They have Lena 15, Andrew 11, Carria 6, Katie 5, Blanche 2, and nephew William Roth 23.

In 1920 Lincoln, Peter is 52, immigrating in 1885, naturalized in 1896, widowed.  With him are Katie V. 14 and Blanch A. 12.

 In 1930 Lincoln, Peter is still widowed, 62, (the census taker wrote birth in Iowa).  Blance A. is 21, no occupation, and daughter Katherine KDaniels is widowed, a laundress, with a son Jack P. 3.

Peter is still widowed in 1940 Lincoln, and Blanch is still with him.. She's 31 ,. a cook in a tavern.

Peter "Father" -April 23, 1867-May 12, 1949 is buried in Wyuka Cemetery, Lincoln # 74644179

Andrew was in Lincoln in 1920, 1930, 1940 census. 

1927 Lincoln "Andrew Sieler Sustains Severe Gashes on Face and Head in Accident. The drivers, supposedly blinded by a heavy smoke fog which settled, over the North Tenth street viaduct after a switch engine had passed under, two cars collided and a passenger of one of the cars. Andrew Sieler, 1301 Clairmont street, was painfully injured. The accident happened on the south slope of the viaduct at about 7:30 a. m. Thursday. Sieler was a passenger In the rear seat of a light sedan driven by Andrew Roth, West Lincoln, which was going south across the viaduct. The car driven by Roth collided headon with a light coupe driven by Sherman Welptln, 1339 South Nineteenth street, a student of the University of Nebraska from Omaha, who was driving north over the viaduct. The drivers both said they were blinded by the smoke. Sieler was thrown thru the windshield of the Roth car, sustaining small gashes on the top of his head and on his right cheek. He was brought to the police station by a passing motorist where his injuries were attended. Both cars were badly damaged."

1939 "A $2,975.00 personal injury suit was brought in District court by Margaret Roth, 17, again.st Pedro Hernandez. She sued through her father, Andrew Roth. Miss Roth claimed that on Dec. 6, 1939, she was riding with Hernandez when his automobile left the road east of College View and turned over, injuring her."
