45. is a picture of his great great grandfather Delbert  Eugene Hardy in the apple orchard on the home place  near Haxtun Colorado. He died in 1933. I estimate  this was taken in the mid 1920′s   My parents Rev and Tracy and Florence Hardy were married in 1922 and Mom asked for a camera for her birthday and she took many pictures over her life and if film could still be bought for it, would still be doing it. So would say, mid 1920

George S. Hardy 1845-1921 # 61908166 and Emeline A. Hardy 1849-1924 # 61908157 are buried in Sutherland Nebraska.

Edward Hardy is in Grand Island Nebraska in 1900, born Oct 1863 in Wisconsin, married seven years to Hattie, 32, with son Hayes, 6.

They're in McCook Nebraska in 1910, "Edwin" 46, Hattie 42, and Hayes 16.
Ed S. Hardy proved up a quarter in section 17, 5N 46W - only a half-dozen miles away from brother Delbert - in 1918- that would be near the Wasges post office.

In 1920 Yuma County, Laird precinct, Ed. S. is farming, with Hattie and Hayes L.

The Scottsbluff, Nebraska 1928 directory has Hayes Hardy, a laborer (Tena).  Tena was 7 in the 1910 census of Phillips County, with parents Wesley G. Dever and Lillie M. Dever, and was with them in 1920 Laird precinct, Yuma County.

Hayes is farming in Laird precinct in 1930, married to Lena 22, born in Kansas.

Hattie is widowed in 1940 Laird precinct, 72, born in Illinois, with Hayes L. 46, divorced.

Hayes died March 1981.

Dan Pope is listed with his parents in the 1940 Census records for Holyoke Colorado.

Early in 2008, our son started to o a genealogy of the family that arrived in Haxtun Colorado almost a hundred years ago and assumed the Name Hardy. Two parents, and four children. 4 daughters and one son.
 One of those daughter became the wife of Millard Pope, ,(Helen Hardy) Pope born Olga Romanov.
The son married my mother, Florence Hunt, cousin to the Hunt oil founders. It's Florence (Hunt) Hardy that is related to Dick Cheney, my second cousin on her side. I've written about this also, And if one does a Google search putting my name "Linda Joy Adams"+ "Dick Cheney" or any other name or subject you  want to see what I worte about that; you should be able to find the articles where I write about this. Dick Cheney's mother 's maiden name was Hunt and not Dickey, That was her first husband's name she was divorced from then later married Cheney and had two sons. His grandfather was Charley Hunt, a cook on the railroad and my Great Uncle whom I met soon after the founders of Hunt oil had made there pioneer style trip in a covered wagon to visit relatives of their father, etc.
He told us how in 1948, it had been decided that his  sister, another great aunt had died in chlidbirth and her  grandson who lived in Poland was going to be made Pope and he became it in 1978, Pope John Paul II. His sister had attended the Sorbonne and met her husband from Poland and died in childbirth. Most of the Hunts in my mother's family  have not been Catholic for over a hundred years, but some married back into it and the   high connections. for 700 years, In the USA, the Medici Family are the Hunts.  All this has been written about over the last several months, too.
Our son had explained some of the geanoiogy to some and no  one was talking since the VP on the opposing ticket is also in another branch of my Dad's family. And most may never have known the truth of the president's origins in Topeka Ks as by the Fall of 1963, "Tut" had the fake Hawaii bio story in place. and reason for this have been explained, too.
 So the connection to Dick Cheney  that is out is apparently a piece of info that got misinterpreted from our son's contact with someone and its not from the Hardy  side., but  through my Mother's Hunt side.
 My whole bio is a convoluted one also. My birth certificate is from one state , but in 1963, when Aunt Helen and Uncle Millard Pope visited us  not long before Doyle and I got married to inform of the fake story of the president; she drooped hints to me on the way out the door of a Baptism ,etc in another states. I have vivid memories of soon after birth and when I visited Colorado in the 50's for the first? time; I remembered the place and other details and the cave where a chest was taken out carried by four men holding poles and put on a plane that had landed on Highway 18 near the home my parents had owned adjacent to the property where my Aunt Grace and Bill Hackett lived near Haxtun Colorado.  That was the rorginal home  a hundred years ago of the family. And I was carried in a basket onto the plane also.

Aunt Helen, President Obama's great grand mother got in her car and we followed her to their home.  We then went into Holyoke, Colorado where behind one of those small grocery stores in many small towns in those years when there were no super markets or even gas station convenience stores was where Great Uncle Charley Hunt lived . He had been a cook for the railroad and married twice and had two separate families. few furnishings and a new wood stove, simple life. He had a railroad pension. My mother's Uncle, her dad's brother, Sherman Tecumseh Hunt who then lived in california. . he had a picture of his one daughter that lived in Texarkana on a stand. He said he had just got the new wood stove. His nephews had visited. he had at first  refused any help as he did not want to accept their 'blood money" These are the billionaire oil men, H.L. and Albert Jr Hunt founded Hunt Oil. They had wanted to build him a new home and help him in his last years, He refuesed but finally allowed them to buy him a new stove to cook on and use for heat. This was summer and few had A/c then except the more wealthy. a neighbor in Topeka had a window unit and used it sparingly. He explained why he wouldn't take their money. Apparently they had had some connection with the Vatican and helping Nazis get out of  Germany after WWII. The scheme was money and jewels were left in Eva peron's 'coffin' and then forged documents were picked up there He also told of other political intrigue  in that a sister of his and my grand dad had gone to the Sorbonen in paris to school ad married a man form Poland then died in Childbirth and her grand son , in 1948 had been decided he was to be Pope and in 1978, he did as Pope John Paul II. Few in my mother's family had returned to the Roman catholic church. its; said she entered a church again at one time and had an argument with the priest and left and never went back. She had started to be a Nun, then was expected to  marry Emperer Franz Joef Hapsburg and run the revived Holy Roman Empire. She ran off with some musicians and Square dancers and married one of that family, Russell Hunt and Eurupe never learned how to square dance. They were married in the Methodist church in Ft Anne, Ny  in 1963 and had either 9 or 11 children. But this is a history of  president' sfamily and not my mother's although its historical record lots of intermarriages with the Medici family.
Great Uncle Charley told about his children. first had two daughters. One , whom mother always called Bessie lived with her family for awhile as a teenager and real name was Marjorie Lorriane Hunt and first husband  was Dickey. She played softball and got divorced in an era when that was a scandal. She then married a Cheney and had two sons one of who was Richard who became Vice President of the USA The other duaghter married late and had become a teacher and lived in Texarkana and one of her children is Ross Perot, presidential candidate. Pictures were around. In Dick Cheney's recent book is a picture of Great Uncle Charley HUnt but the name is Dickey. Does he know he was a Hunt? Did his mother put down a former married name instead of maiden name on his birth record? now , one can see how official reocrds get so convoluted!  He was very sad about his second family. After his first wife died he emarried a native American woman in Ok and had two sons. . One mornng he got up smf she and boys were gone and he never heard for them again and could not locate them. he died a few years after our visit. In recent eyars, I was eading anarticle aout J B Hunt and items correllated, I did not know that a borther of my mother had contacted him a few eyars beofreand he was one of the miisng sons and  had worked for him and traveled with him some. on business. I never met him. nd acutally rtraveled with him on busibess.  My Uncle was shocked to learn that the Hunt Oil founders were his cousins. He was 35 years younger than my mother lived in Californis and here I was caught in the cross hairs of my family history where one member did not now about some other member and who everybody was. i had always known. he lived separated by time and distance. Mom was always shocked by scandal and H L had plenty of that in his personal life. i left great Uncle Charley's with all kinds of info. A picture of him is in Dick Cheney's book and I do not know if the woman is his first wife or not. its him with railroad car kitchen. his cooking was for the men building the railroad tracks and repairs. Dick Cheney has spken of him but calls him Dickey and not Hunt. Does he not know? I met Liz Cheney at a Church of the Brethren Annual Conference in 1994 , Richard's wife She asked me what My mother's name was after seeing Linda Adams on my name tag. We spoke briefly about my ministry work and she spoke one evening, She just grinend when I said Florence Hunt a she wanted to know that much, but didn;t say why and just grinned and was very friendly and I had not made the connrction to K\dick until after she was introduced that evening.to speak. was introduced for the speech. It is ironic that A secretary of Defense had a mother with Church of the Brethren Connections, but I understand they are Methodists. Have no idea why some families get split apart, In my mother's family it was often the Catholic faith as some did return to it or some scandals did occur. After returning home I ead about the covered wagon trip the Hunt brothers took and were in when they arrived at Great Uncle Charley;s home. they had tkaen rails , as in old days and visited fmaily along the way. he said they ahd asked about my mother and had not known she had moved to KS 9 years earlier. Their Dad Albert Sr Hunt had signed up for an OK land run and lied about his ageas too young at 16 then married a neighbor ctholic girl and had the two borthers. Then he runs off and my Mom said another family of his included actress Helen Hayes and rumor has it others. After he left and divorced took place they struck oil. Kind of a family inside  joke on the runaway husband. Some said he died in oregon, Bios of the Hunt Oilmen mention little about him. most tell about H L being mareid to two women at the same tie and their children. I have always been told there was no childres, but a misinterpretation as that;s how the extended famly handled women that might show up and claim to be a child or relative of his. So what words mena have to be carefully taken in context. I live where many no claim to be descendants of those two families of HL.Probably are as most have very blond hair and Blue eyes. My mother shared a lot of all this with me, but she did not speak of it in public or rarely with others. She knew gossip was a sin and  her sharing was not meant to be gosisp but instruction in human behavior. I do think she would have been an excellent Psychologist or psychiatrist if she had lived in an era when women had the opportunity. I have  report cards of hers and she was an A student as far as she went through part of high school. she was expected to drop out and help at home she had later learned that a doctor from Lincoln medical school had heard how she had taken care of  her whole family in 1919 Flu epidemic and wanted her to come and work and go to nurisng school there and her parent did not tell her. she was only 14. Mom did not think there was any ulterior motive other than recognition of her ability. My Mom was the odest of 16 children. Some of whom born after she left home. Times were so different for women not so long ago. Younger generations really have no concept before the era of civil rights. Tomorrow: Visit at the home of Pres Obama's paternal great grand parents.
