Herman Dettman

In 1880 Littleton, Colorado, Emma is 21, with parents Wm. 61 a carpenter and Mary 58.  Brother Paul 22 is a florisa, and sister Ida is 19.

"William Hensler, a member of a Wisconsin during the Civil war, and by trade a cabineti-maker" was father of Ida Hensler, who married Leonard Walters in 1883.

Herman Dittmann married Emma Hensler September 27, 1886, recorded in Denver - ceremony performed by H. Wegert, minister.

Herman cash-claimed a quarter in 1, 6N 50W in 1891.

Maybe the Herman Dittman in 1900 Park County, a merchant born Nov 1855 in Germany, married 13 years to Emma, Oct 1859 in Wisconsin.  Frederick Oct 1887, Oscar Jan 1891 (Oscar's WWI registrations said he was born in Denver), Khort Nov 1894, Bruno Sept 1896, Alana Feb and Willard, both February 1899.

Herman is a machinist in a railroad shop in 1910 Park County, with Emma 56.  With them are Fred, Oscar, Kurt, Bruno, Alana, Emma, Willard, and have added Louise, now 7.

In 1920 Seattle, Emma said she's married, but no spouse.  With her are Fred W. 32 a locomotive engineer, Kurt A. 25 a machinist helper on a railroad, Alma I. 20 a "compmaker operator" at a wholesale paper firm, and Louise E. 18.

"August H. "  Dittman, 65, is a railroad machinist in Denver in 1920, saying he was married but no spouse.  He said he immigrated in 1885, was naturalized in 1910.  With him are sons Oscar P. 28 a bookkeeper, and Willard H. 20 no occupation.

The 1927 Denver directory has Herman A. Dittman, a machinist, with Emma at 609 Elati. Kurt A. Dittman, a machinist, is at the same address.

In 1930 Denver Emma says she's married, but no spouse.  She's living with Alma Ida, 30, a stenographer for a railroad.  The 1932 Denver directory has her as widow of Herman.

In 1940 Park County, there's an August H. Dittman, 84, widowed, born in Germany.....

In 1940 San Francisco, Alma is married to Robert Painter, and his daughter Mary E. 20, born in Colorado.

 Alma Dittman Painter, born Feb 25, 1899 in Colorado, mother's name Hensler, died Dec 9, 1994 in San Francisco County.
