 John D. Ball married Mary Felton in Henry County, Indiana May 23, 1867.

One tree said he was the son of Calvin Morgan Bell 1816-1901, dying in Antelope County Nebraska, and Nancy 1816-1854, dying in Fulton County, Indiana. 

In 1880 Henry County, John is 40, Mary 33, with Emrettia 12, Elmer 10, Matilda 8, William and Serrah, both 4.

John timber-claimed a quarter in 8, 6N 50W in 1893, and proved up another in 1895.

In 1900 and 1910 Logan County, John D., born November 1839 in Indiana, is widowed, farming, living alone.

In 1900 Madison County, Indiana, Elmer born January 1870, married 7 years to Mabel, 24, Illinois.  They have Blanche 7, Nebraska, Harrold 5, Indiana.  One tree said he married Mabel V. Kelley in Juniata, Nebraska Nov 22, 1892.

In 1910 Logan County, Elmer 40 has been married 5 years to Annie Lee, 30, born in Nebraska.  With them are Blanche 16 Nebraska and Gerald 13 Indiana.

One tree said Blanche born Sep 22, 1892 in Juniata died Oct 72, 1984 in Fort Morgan.  She   married Ray A. Younkin September 3, 1914, recorded in Logan County, and they're in Logan County in 1920. Ray is 28, Blanche 25, and they have Herbert Ray 4 and Clarence E. 3.

In 1930 Logan County Raymond and Blanche have Herbert, Clarence, and now Lenore L. 9.  In 1940 Logan County they have Herbert 25 and his wife Mabel 19. 

The tree says Frank Harold Ball born April 12, 1895 in Henry County, Indiana died Nov 29, 1962 in Prescott, Arizona.

 Elmer Ball proved up a quarter in 3, 7N 51W in 1912.

They might be in Long Beach, California in 1920, no occupation Elmer 48 Indiana, Lea 40 Nebraska.

Elmer and Anna are alone in 1930 Logan County, Elmer first married at 22, Anna at 30.

They're retired in 1940 Kelly precinct, Logan County.

In 1920 John is living on West Main in Sterling, 80, with another widower, Francis Hyde, 70.

In 1930 Logan County John is 90, living with daughter Matilda Holzworth 58, her husband Charles C. 62, and therir daughter Gertrude 16.  The Holzworths had been in Adams County Nebraska in 1910 and in Fort Morgan in 1920.

John - Nov 20, 1839-Nov 9, 1930 is buried in Sterling "After the death of his wife in Indiana, he went to Nebraska and then he homesteaded to Logan County, Colorado about 1892...buying 160A 20 miles SE of Sterling, Colorado..
He was in the Civil War..1861-1864..Missouri 2nd Reg., Co.D, Cavalry from 1861-64. It was known as "Merrill's Horse." "

Elmer E. 1870-1950 and Anna T. (Houck) Ball 1873-1948 are buried in Sterling.

Matilda 1872-1967 and Charles 1867-1958 Holzworth are buried in Sterling.

William 1876-Dec 28, 1843 is buried in Meeker, Colorado  # 52332653- marrying Mary Margaret Reader 1880-Jan 15, 1949. # 52332654

Sarah probably married William W. Cullen - and they were in Hastings in 1900 and 1910, Omaha in 1920, and  in New Orleans in 1930 and 1940. One tree said she died May 8, 1963 in Folsom, Louisiana.

Beloved husband of the late Nadine June Cullen. Father of William W. III, Robert E., Patrick R., Mark J., Richard P., Michael R. Cullen. Brother of Janet Bordes and the late Margarete Heath, Estelle Boucher, Mildred Holmquist and Ellen Gast. Also survived by 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Aged 90 years, a native of Hastings, NE and a resident of Mandeville, LA for the past 38 years.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial services on Sunday, July 9, 2006 at 7:00 PM from Living Word Church, 26214 Hwy 190, Lacombe, LA 70445. Visitation on Sunday, at the church from 6:00 PM until service time.

Mrs. Ellen Cullen Gast, age 92, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Thursday, February 10, 2005, in Ocean Springs. Mrs. Gast was born on July 20, 1912, in Omaha, Nebraska. She and her husband, Steve, lived in New Orleans while raising their family and moved to Ocean Springs in the early 70's. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stewart Peyton Gast and a son, Harvey Christopher Gast. A private service and burial was held in Crestlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Ocean Springs. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Estelle M. Cullen, born about 1903 in Juniata, Nebraska to Wm. W. Cullen and Sarah Ball, married Albert N. Boucher, born about 1899 in Canada, in Cuyahoga County, Ohio.

Estelle Miranda Boucher, born August 9, 1902, died in Marion County, Florida July 17, 1992.  They had Patricia born Feb 13, 1924, who married Alan Turkington, and died December 12, 2009 in Hebron, Connecticut. 
 
 

 

Emeretta probably married John Stillman Booth in Adams County, Nebraska in 1890, and died in 1903 in Barron County Wisconsin.

Died - Emma, wife of J. S. Booth in this city, Sunday, May 17, 1903.

Deceased was born in the state of Indiana Mar. 28, 1869, moved from there to Nebraska about 16 years ago with her father J. D. Ball. Was married to J. S. Booth on the 2nd of April, 1890. Has been a consistent Christian for over eleven years. Was taken sick seven months ago, was a great sufferer and through it all she never wavered in her Christian faith.

Came to Wisconsin about three weeks ago to benefit her health. Just before the end came she called her little family about her and bid them goodbye, charging them to all live a good Christian life and meet her in heaven. She had saved through self denial and hard work $245 and her last request was to use it all for home and foreign missions.

She leaves a husband and one child.

The funeral was held from the residence Tuesday forenoon, Rev. Slocum officiating, interment made in Lake View Cemetery.    [Friday, May 22, 1903, The Chetek Alert, Chetek, Wisconsin.]
