Charles proved up a quarter in 30, 9N 49W in 1918.


In 1920 Logan County, Charles is 41, Mary M. 38 Nebraska, with Lawrence L. 14 Nebraska, Donald B. 12 Nebraska, Hazel E. 6 Colorado, and Eugene eight months Colorado.
In 1930 Charles is a blacksmith in Julesburg, 52, Mary 48, Hazel 16, Lynn 11, Eugene 8, and Allen 5.
In 1940 he's still a blacksmith in Julesburg, with Lynn C. 21 - a road worker , Allen 15, and grand-daughter Leanna Woodhams, 4, born in Colorado.

Charles E. Rice 1876-1969 is buried in Julesburg # 74109737. So is Mary M. Rice 1881-1954, # 74109739.

Eugene Rice 1921-1935 is buried in Julesburg # 74109738.


In 1930 and 1940 Donald is an auto mechanic in Chicago - but he said he was in Julesburg in 1935.
In 1930 he was married to Gladys, both 23.
In 1940 he's 31, married to Ivadell 25, with Douglas D. seven months.
Donald David Rice 1907-1989 is buried in San Jose, California # 11216499.

Allan Rice 1924-1992 is buried in Fort Logan # 3367948, wtih Velma Maxine (Parker) Rice 1928-2015.
"Velma Maxine Rice was born Jan. 18, 1928, to Omer Parker and Esther Marie (Bauer) in Venango, Neb. She died July 10, 2015, at Regent Park Nursing Home in Holyoke at the age of 87.
Velma attended Brule High School, graduating with the class of 1946. She married Allan Rice Dec. 17, 1950. To this union, three children were adopted: Rick, Yolanda and Judy. They were married 41 years before Allan’s passing on Feb. 28, 1992. " "

Lynn Charles Rice, born April 12, 1919, died June 6, 1984 in Stanislaus County, California, mother Cool.
Leanna Rae Woodhams was born July 14, 1935 at Ovid, Colorado to Charles F. WOodhams and Hazel E. Rice, dying as Appleby August 29, 2007.
She's buried in Ocala, Florida # 58735075 , with Hugh T. Appleby 1927-2015 # 155254078

Nelson C. Cool cash-claimed a quarter in 34, 9N 50W in 1914.
He registered for WWI in Fleming, born Feb 22, 1886, wife Freeda.
In 1920 Logan County, farming, Nelson 33 and Freeda A. 31 have Dwight W. 6 and George E. 3.
In 1930 Logan County, they have Dwight 17, George 14, Phyllis 10, and Norris 7.
In 1940 they have Phyllis W. 20 and Norris C. 17.

Nelson Curtis Cool 1886-1952 # 48064847 and Freeda Ana (Holmes) Cool 1888-1980 are buried in Fleming. Phyllis Wilma Cool was born March 2, 1920 to Nelson and Freeda, dying Jan 16, 1998 as Phyllis W. Whitchurch.
The Grand Junction newpaper has a January 24, 1998 obituary, page 6B.
George E. Cool and Virginia Reynolds, both of Seattle, married there June 24, 1939.

In 1940 Seattle, Washington, George Cool is a machinist, Virgina 21 born in Washington. Her mother Edna Reynolds 44 is widowed, an nurse with the health department. He ws in Colorado in 1935.

Dwight Worden Cool, born March 16, 1913, died April 1993, last residence Tompkins, New York.

Itha G. Cool cash-claimed a quarter in 33, 9N 50W in 1913. Arthur Claypool, living alone in 1910 and 1920 Logan County, proved up a quarter in 25, 9N 49W in 1913.
Itha G. Cool and Arthur Claypool married Oct 2, 1920, recorded in Logan County.
In 1880 Tazewell County Virginia, "Author" is 1, with grand-parents Miles 68 and Sarah 59 Claypool. Jos H. is 23, Bostonia 24, Kitty C. 16, John T. 13. Evaline T. Jones 30 is a daughter of Miles and Sarah, and so is Jane Alder 29, with her two kids. There's another grandson, Henry Duncan, 12.
One tree assumes that Arthur is Jane's son, but her obituary doesn't mention him.

Arthur was a farm laborer in 1900 Worth County, Missouri, born June 1877 in Virginia. He's working for the John T. Claypool born October 1865 in Virginia. On the same page are Peter G. 52 and Mary C. 47 Claypool, both born in Virginia.

Itha (Cool) Claypool 1889-1923 is buried in Fleming, Colorado # 128476010 , with Arthur 1871-1948.
Arthur is widowed in 1930 Logan County, 52, born in Virginia, farming.
In 1940 Logan County, Arthur is living alone, 62, born in Virginia.

In 1891, when her father died, his children were Freeman of Kearney, Mrs. Florence Cool, Prairie Center Neb.; Nelson Merryman, Axtell, Neb.; P. A. and Dr. G. K. Merryman, Moline, III., Charles Merryman in Kentucky and Frank in Kansas, with Miss Fannie of this city

Florence A. Cool proved up two quarters in 2, 8N 50 W. in 1914.
When her mother died in 1916, children were "Nels Merryman, Mrs. Flora Volentine [sic], of Kearney; Mrs. Florence Cool of Paxton, Colo.; Perry A. Merryman, of Moline, Ill.; and Charles Merryman of Oklahoma. Freeman Merryman, living south-east of the city is a stepson".
In 1920 Fleming, Florence is 67, widowed, and Itha G. 30 is a mail carrier. Grandson Robert L. Hanway 16 born in Idaho is living with them.
She's alone in 1930 Fleming, and is buried in Kearney with husband David, 1852-1931, # 46942563.

Levi H. Cool proved up two quarters in 32 and 33, 9N 50W in 1916.
Levi Harold Cool registered for WWI in Fleming, born Oct 18, 1883, farming, nearest relative Clara M. Cool.
He's farming in Logan County in 1920, 36, born in Nebraska, with Clara M. 31 Nebraska, Clifford C. 14 Nebraska, Roy D. 10 Nebraska, and Ernest E. 2 Colorado.
Harold is doing odd jobs in Sterling in 1930, 49, Clara a hotel chambermaid, with Ernest 12 and Owen 9.
Harold and Clara are in Kearney, Nebraska in 1940, where he is a yard laborer. They were in Sterling in 1935. With them is Clara's mother Bena St. Petres, widowed, 76, born in New York.
There's a marker in the Kearney cemetery, Harold L. Cool - Oct 18, 1882 - May 10, 1956 - on the same stone as Mabel E. 1876-1918.
Another - perhaps on the rear of that marker is Clara Loudy Cool - Oct 30, 1888- March 25, 1966.

Clifford Cool, 1906-1929 is buried in Fleming.
