Funeral services for Mildred Gladney Riordan of Elsberry, MO were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 27, 2007 at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Elsberry, MO. Rev. Conrad Cheatham, pastor of Elsberry ARP Presbyterian Church in Elsberry, MO, officiated with burial at the Elsberry City Cemetery in Elsberry, MO. Pallbearers were Mike Parker, Larry Cordsiemon, Pat Fakes, David Fakes, Wesley Fakes and Leon Fakes. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Waggoner, Ernest Calvin, Don Bowers, Jesse Cox and Dale Galloway.
Mrs. Riordan, 96, died early Thursday morning, May 24, 2007 at Elsberry Healthcare Center near Elsberry, MO. Born August 1, 1910 in Elsberry, MO, she was the daughter of Lemuel Thomas and Laura Gladney Baskett. She was a 1928 graduate of Elsberry High School. She also attended and graduated from Kirksville Teachers College in Kirksville, MO, earning a B.S. in Education. She attended graduate school at the University of Wyoming, Kirksville Teachers College and Washington University. She was united in marriage in 1947 in Elsberry, MO to Edward Dan Riordan. She was an elementary school teacher for many years in Elsberry, MO, Sterling, CO, and O'Fallon, MO, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the PEO Chapter-A1 in Elsberry, MO, Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, DAR in Sterling, CO Elbridge Geery Chapter-ABC. She was also a member of the Elsberry ARP Presbyterian Church in Elsberry.
She was preceded in death by parents, Lemuel and Laura Baskett; two brothers: Walter Baskett and J.W. Baskett; two sisters: Anna Laura Trail and Nannie Houston; one step-daughter, Betty Irby; two nieces: Betty Jo Palmer and Mary Alice Houston; and her beloved husband of 18 years, Edward Riordan, who died in March of 1965.
Survivors include one sister, Sarah Harrison of St. Charles, MO; one step-daughter, Bonnie Sajbel and her husband, Edward, of Pueblo, CO; three nephews: Tom Harrison of St. Charles, John Harrison of LaPlata, MO and Dr. Robert Trail of Oklahoma City, OK; two nieces: Edna Ann Waggoner of Elsberry, MO and Margaret Brucie Assaf of St. Louis, MO; several cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Bonnie Riordan married Edward R. Sajbel on June 12, 1952 in Logan County.
They're in Pueblo, Colorado in 1957, where Edward is a teacher.
Betty Lou Riordan Irby, 77, a homemaker, of Las Vegas, passed away
Aug. 19, 2004. She was born Nov. 14, 1926, in Sterling, Colorado
and was a resident of Las Vegas for nine years. She was a member of
Church Women United. Betty Lou is survived by her husband,
Harvey Irby Sr.; her son, Harvey Irby Jr. and wife, Carolyn of
Las Vegas; and sister, Bonnie and husband, Ed Sajbel of Pueblo, Colo.;
three grandsons, Warrant Officer 1 Jonathan Irby and wife,
Annamaria of Fort Gordon, Ga., Joel Irby of Las Vegas and Brian Irby
and wife, Devon of Las Vegas; and three great-grandchildren,
Kyle 12, Annalisa 10 and Kellen Irby 9, all of Fort Gordon, Ga.
Memorial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, at
Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

He lived in the Atwood community and received his education at the Atwood schools. He finished his senior year at Sterling High School.
He married Betty Amen on May 31, 1952, in Sterling. He began his career with Mountain Bell in 1946 and after several promotions, retired as a supervisor in 1983.
He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ and honorary member of the Elks Lodge No. 1336 and American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and flying his plane.
Mr. Robinett is survived by his wife Betty of Sterling; three daughters, Peggy Lamb and husband Dick of Sterling, Linda Mattson and husband Mick of Florence and Becky Hour and husband Jeff of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two sons, Mike and wife Brenda of Sterling and Ron of Cheyenne, Wyo.;
a half-sister, Janell Robinett of San Francisco, Calif., and six grandchildren.
Lawrence M. Robinett 1903-1991 is buried in Burt County, Nebraska # 54016766. His father A. Newton Robinett 1879-1954 is buried in Sterling # 54599550, with Chloe D. Robinett 1885-1979.
Ruth Robinett, 96, a resident of Montrose and La Crescenta, died on
May 16, 2002.
She was born on May 3, 1906 in Nianga, Mo., to Alva and Julia Pearce.
She was the youngest of 17 children.
Prior to retiring she worked for almost 30 years at Faye's Lingerie in
Montrose.
She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Konecky, Jacqueline Wheeler,
Janell Robinett of Carpinteria, and Judy Olson of Tekamah, Neb.; nine
grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three
great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, at McDermott-Crockett
Mortuary Chapel 1903 State. St., Santa Barbara.
Janell Robinett March 2, 1947 - October 20, 2008 Passed away peacefully on Oct. 20th after a brief illness.
She was born in Tekamah, Neb., March 2, 1947, to Lawrence "Blackie" and Ruth (Beaver) Robinett. She grew up in southern California and spent her adult life in San Francisco as an executive administrative assistant., she grew up in So. Calif., and spent her adult life in SF as an executive administrative assistant. Janell retired to Carpinteria several years ago, a place she loved and considered "paradise". Janell lived a wonderfully happy life, surrounding herself with love and beauty. She had a keen eye as a photographer, and was a gifted gardener who volunteered at a local Garden. Janell is survived by her sisters Jaccie Wheeler, Joyce Konecky, and Judy Olson; numerous nieces and nephews; and her loving cat Buster. She was pre-deceased by her mother, Ruth Robinett, in 2002. Family and friends will gather on Friday, October 24th to celebrate her life. Donations may be made in her memory to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care or the Sarah House, both of Santa Barbara . -

1898 Sterling "Al Crofts went to Greeley this morning to appear as a witness in the Riordan cattle case."
In 1898 Jeremiah was charged with larceny of live stock, pleaded guilty. He also was charged with obtaining money under false pretenses, set for trail Nov 111.
Jeremiah proved up a quarter in 35, 9N 48W in 1915.
Jeremiah is in prison in 1900 Fremont County, a stone mason born March 1868 in Illinois.
In 1910 Logan County, William is farming, single 38, and brother Timothy 39 is next, with another brother Jeremiah 41, all born in Illinois.
Jeremiah 1867-1928 is buried in Sterling # 56914435.

William claimed a tract in sections 1 and 12, 7N 51W in 1908, and another in section 12 in 1911.

In 1900 Sterling, Timothy Riordan is living on Main Street, born May 1870 in Illinois, a cattle herder.
Timothy died intestate on September 13, 1916, a resident of Denver.
