March 1888 Holyoke, Colorado (when Logan County had not been divided) "S. W. Beggs is in Denver this week representing this part of the county at the convention to consider the resources and advantages of Colorado. He received his appointment from J. F. Watts, chairman of the county board of commissioners."

Mary's obituary of October 19, 1922:
"Mrs. Mary E. Watts, 80 years old, well-known pioneer resident of Sterling, died at 11:30 Tuesday morning at the home of her son, R. M. Watts, at Albuquerque, N. M. Mrs. Watts, who had resided in Sterling for thirty-alx years, had come to Albuquerque two months ago to spend the winter at her son's house. About three weeks ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis and her condition had beeu despaired of for some days.
Mrs. Watts was born at Columbus, Ind., April 4, 1842. With her parents she moved to Broomfield, Iowa, when three years old. and resided at that place until eighteen years old. She was then for seven years a resident of Winteset, Iowa. She was married to James F. Watts on November 12, 1872, at Dexter, Iowa.
Mr. and Mrs. Watts nmved to Sterling April 30, 1886, and for a time Mr. Watts was engaged in the management of a grocery store here. He was the first commissioner of Logan County. His death ocurred two years after coming to Sterling.
Mrs. Watts has made her home at 314 Lincoln street. She was united with the Methodist Episcopal church at the age of thirteen years. She was a charter member of the Methodist church of Sterling and throughout the latter part of her life was a devoted memeber of the congregation.
Mrs Watts is survived by three sons; R.M. Watts of Albuquerque, N. M., Virgil B. Watte of Sterling, and J. Frank Watts of Los Angeles. California.
The funeral will be held Thursday or Friday afternoon at the Methodist church in Sterling. The body and Mrs. Watts' two sons who were are expected to arrive at Sterling Thursday morning."

Watts, and R. Morris Watts. You will please take notice that an action has been brought in the District Court of Logan County, Colorado, by George H. Green and Kay R. Powell for a determination of the descent of property, it being alleged in said petition: That James F. Watts, at the time of his decease, was the owner of all that portion of Lot 2, Commencing at Main Street and extending 106 feet :'rom Main Street, in Block 3, Town (Now' City) of Sterling, Colorado. That the said James F. Watts left surviving him as his only heirs. Mary K. Watts, his widow", and John F. Watts, Virgil B. Watts, R. Morris Watts, his children. That thereafter Mary E. Matts, John F. Watts, Virgil B. Watts transferred their interest in said land by separate instruments to R. Morris Watts, and that R. Morris Watts then duly transferred and conveyed said land to J. J. Cheairs and A. G. Sherwln; that thereafter upon the decease of J. J. Cheairs, and upon Probate of his estate and decree of heirship being entered in said estate, the heirs, Samuel V. Cheairs, Ralph G. Cheairs, Oscar L. Cheairs, Calvin W. Cheairs, Maggie M. Lutin. Minnie L. Cheairs transferred their one-fourth interest to said land to Sallie J. ALICE'S FAMILY

February 5, 1908 "At the home of the bride's parents in Gove City, on Wednesday, January 29th, at 12 o'clock, Mr. Albert H. Tetsell and Miss Mary E. Rhine. The Rev. W. E. Scott performed the ceremony in the presence of relatives and a few close friends. The wedding march - from “Lohengrin” was played by Miss Hazel Bevan, and after the ceremony a delicious dinner was partaken of, the table being decorated with white roses The bride is a popular Gove county young lady held in high esteem. She was dressed in white taffeta silk trimmed in lace, silk applique and silk embroidered chiffon. She carried roses and white lilies. Her traveling dress was green serge. The ring bearer, Luelia Rhine, a neice of the bride, was dressed in white mull and carried the ring in a white lily tied with a bow of white ribbon. The happy couple received many beautiful and costly wedding gifts. They will be at home after February 20th 2i miles from Sterling, Colorado, on a 480 acre farm owned by the groom's father. —Gove County, Kans., Advocate. The groom is Bert Tetzell, a Sterling boy whom almost everybody knows, respects and esteems. He has lived nearly all his life here and our town and community never produced a better follow. Mr. and Mrs. Tetsell arrived on Monday evening and were given a family reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. V. B. Watts. Here's wishing the new home on the hill will always he overflowing with happiness. "
